DJI Zenmuse gimbal and S800 Spreading Wings preorder

Really interesting would be to find out which cams will work with the z15 weight wise. I am aware that there is a NEX5/7 and a GH1/2 version but i guess there will be no big difference in the motors since the weight is similar. The only difference is the COG thus getting the appropriate cradle to mount these two cams. Based on this will different cams in this weight range ( or up to what weight ? ) work with the z15 and adapter kits be available for the z15 to make it work ?

Hoping they are making the Z15 aluminum case so that it will fit the camera in the case on the gimbal when it is packed for transport... :nevreness:

From an engineering point of view lets be honest. Nothing comes close. If it performs like it should then I would not want be one trying trying to compete in that market place. For what you get for your money it's cheap. The only thing that could be better from an endurance and high wind point of view IMHO could be a Logo Extreme 800 with a Zenmuse and Ace one flybarless controller.

It does look like a really nice piece of kit , I for one am looking forward to getting mine and seeing how well it flies but looking at how easy it packs away etc it is fantastic.

i wish i'd had the cash to take a punt on the pre order, looks great and very well thought out.

what's everyone going to do with all the time they'll save by not having to test fit a whole bunch of different ways to cram in components, route esc wires and solder huge numbers of bullets?

the only slight fail would seem to be that the landingear will not go back in the case once built or collapse as quickly as the rest of it, to do so. but keeping it out and using the spare space in the case, with a new bit of foam, for the radio and other gear would probably work just as well.

How do you get it back in the case if you build the landing gear and mount the GPS pole???

Also what holds the lipo? Velcro?

Looks to me that you need to fly without legs to be able to use the case.

You can take the landing gear apart quite easily and repack it.

I think that chopping up pieces of carbon tube and lashing it together with dozens of steel nuts, bolts and brackets is fine for building a prototype but if you want to compete with these guys then you may need a little more design technology and some big investment. They will surely go from strength to strength.

I would try it as it comes before doing anything, these guys know how to design electronics and integrate all of their components better than we can. it's a CAN bus system.

15 mins is nearly up since you posted - is it built yet?

any idea what the customs duty hit is going to be?

I'd like to know what the UK duty is going to be as well. From all the many parts and bits and pieces that I've had delivered here in the UK from outside the EU, I have never been able to establish exactly how the prices for duty are arrived at. I'm sure there must be a clear-cut formulae that the PO use but it does not appear to be the case...maybe its my age.

Wow, the integrated arms are more than I expected. Actually, the way everything is integrated is way more than expected! Can't wait to get mine. I'll be keeping an eye out for the Fedex truck.

At the very least it will be 20% VAT plus a courier charge £30 to £40 (+VAT on that) may be . On top of that would be any import duty but that will depend on how its classified by HM Customs... thats a complete mystery at the mo.

S800 is up and flying all seems good so far but not had proper flight has been peeing down all day but managed to get a few tester flights in .
As for customs they will be 20% of order value plus shipping and usually courier will charge a small surcharge also . Sometimes you will also be charged import duty usually approx 3%

I will try and get a video up soon .
