A few questions from a total neophite

Is the Kodo small enough to fly indoors? I practiced on the Blade Nano-Qx but was only able to fly it outdoors a couple times due to wind. While it's not apples to oranges in terms of maneuvers, it is a bit when it comes to flight characteristics between these tiny quads and a larger machine...

A few questions from a total neophite

Seems like you're doing the responsible thing and learning to fly. That's step 1. I'm not aware of any complicated maneuvers to hone the skills (that doesn't mean there aren't any) - but I think basic squares, figure 8's etc do the trick. The key here is to find a nice, big open field and...

AMA seeks to clarify "near miss..."

An article in USA Today recently highlighted the AMA's attempt to clarify the FAA reports of sightings, near misses and evasive action needed to avoid drones. Including the veto by California's Governor Brown, this article seems to add to a trend toward reasonable, tempered viewpoints of our...

    Why am I running HOT?!?!

How dos you add the wire between esc and PDB? Bullets? Or straight soldering???

    Why am I running HOT?!?!

Any chance you've used a different brand of wire than the other builds that used the same components?

    Why am I running HOT?!?!

I've had good luck with the Vulcan board. But I do jack the iron quite a bit and don't have to leave it on the board too long. I also add a bit more prep solder to the pads than I normally would. @Pumpkinguy made a nice DIY PDB with a copper disc/washer and added bullets. I may try this if I...

    My First Build!

You're definitely best spending the money now for a good soldering iron. You'll have it for half a lifetime, and it will save you aggravation in the end. There are 2 that are really good. The Hakko 888 (I think that's the number) and the Weller 51. Either would suit you just fine.

    My First Build!

Did the motors come with the wires as short as shown on your blog? They are usually much longer. You will need to grab some silicone wire in the AWG that matches the motors. It should be listed on the side of the wire currently on the motors/ESCs. You'll also want to match the size of the...

    Taranis X9D Global Issue?

That is so bizarre. But I'm glad you got it straightened around.

    dji f550 problems

Glad you got it sorted. If motor test and calibration has checked out ok. Make sure you enter where the GPS is placed on the frame. That's important! Then check the flight mode switch to make sure the modes are working correctly. You watch it in assistant as you flip the switch. I would...

    dji f550 problems

Yep. You need to figure that out and then you can move to the other issues. Make sure you follow the directions in the manual for connecting. Also make sure you have the most recent assistant software/drivers for the Naza from the DJI support page.

    dji f550 problems

Ok. Now we may be getting somewhere. If there are no lights - that means that you are not actually connected to the software/computer. Do you have the required drivers installed? You should be able to connect the Naza to the computer with/without the receiver. So let's get the communication...

    dji f550 problems

Do the lights on the Naza assistant software show that the Naza is connected correctly and communicating with the computer (blue/green lights in the lower portion of the window)? I would double check the servo wires and make sure they are all seated well. I'm sorry, I'm stumped here. Usually...

do you have traditional selected in Naza assistant? Are you seeing power to the receiver when you power up the system? Did you bind the radio and receiver already?

Do you have Traditional or PPM selected? Can you post a photo of the connections?

    dji f550 problems

The small 3 pin wires are called Servo wires/cables. Those should be connected between the radio and Naza ports for Aileron, Elevator, Throttle and Rudder. Also one for the 3-way switch to trigger the flight modes. Have you plugged into the computer and opened up the Naza assistant to see if...
