    S800 foldable GPS mount

So here's my only concern, and why I think we are talking multiple layers here... You said you got some sparks when you applied power. If all that you are doing is connecti two wires that were previously connected, you would not have got sparks. The sparks were due to you shorting two wires...

Beware Wookong-M fantastic deal with 50 waypoints!

ChrisViper posted on another thread a list of vendors. Two that I know of: aerialmediapros.com, and intelligentuas.com

    S800 foldable GPS mount

Chris, do you know if the board is multi-layered? I thought it was, like the ground plane being on one layer, the 25V on another, and the ESC signals on another. Saidquad, best of luck. Keep us posted how we can help.

    Middle of the road Multi

+1. I wanted to add above that "middle of the road" can't be done with the budget you mentioned. If you truly want middle of the road, do as Kloner says and up your budget to $500 for a starter kit that you can grow and expand over time as more budget allows.

    S800 foldable GPS mount

Sadly, no, unless yours is drastically different than mine. Under those plastic plates are four big soldering spots about 1/2" big in an L shape. Each of the six motor anchors or mounts (whatever you want to call them) are securely attached to the top plate. You can buy a full hub (top+bottom...

    WARNING - Firmware 5.24

From reading the other thread Droider wrote, it seems like the answer is yes. The WKM just ocassionally drops out of GPS mode into Attitude mode. Droider, is there any chance that it is your GPS? I'm just curious because this hasn't been reported previously in the 3ish weeks its been out.

Great!. There may be less circuitry in te middle area away from the arm mounts.

Beware Wookong-M fantastic deal with 50 waypoints!

Agreed that you are sacrificing one thing for another. But your giving up a <$200 item (I forget the exact trade in amount) for a ~$1600 item. If you never plan to use it, that's one thing. I bought the package because it was an *unbelievable* steal, and I knew full well it was the v1 IMU...

    S800 foldable GPS mount

Are you saying you already fitted (past tense) it? Have you powered it up and tested all your motors and functionality? If you already did, then it sounds like you might have found a safe spot on the top plate.

    S800 foldable GPS mount

Sorry about that. But I do agree with your assessment and should ground the S800 until you get a replacement top board. There was some discussion on another thread about that mount and how the screw sizes were diff, which meant drilling, which someone then said its a nonstarter for them...

    WARNING - Firmware 5.24

Droid ear, if I'm understanding you correctly, it sounds like the issue you are describing is because you have the latest iPhone app. 5.22 of the WKM isn't compatible with the latest app. I gave up two weeks ago because getting the old iPhone app is nearly impossible... At least, I found no way...

    Told to move along...

Teamfail, you are correct about the FAA side of things. However, I'm sure you have checked in your area, but there are cities in the US that have regulations against RC flying within city limits, and/or in city parks. And more recently some cities have pass regs against flying within city...

    Middle of the road Multi

I would look at HobbyKing and check out their quad frame kits, see what motors people post there using that frame, as well as the HobbyKig flight controller. You could go with DJI F450 and Naza-lite, but I think that will run you closer to $400.

S800 Major Crash - The spin of death

This was back when I had just upgraded from my F450 to the S800. It was basically a culmination of two issues. First and foremost, I just wasn't well versed enough in Manual mode, especially with the added power the S800 had over the quad. But then couple with the fact that I had just...

S800 Major Crash - The spin of death

junanata, so that we can all collectively learn from this, can give us additional info? Like how long ago and how many flights ago was the soldering done on this motor/ESC? Can you tell if the pad is on the wire or still on the ESC? Does it look like a cold solder issue? From your answers...

Wish I never bought this thing!!!!

The simplest solution is to configure the Naza to GPS/ATT/Failsafe... But then you loose Manual mode. Otherwise you have to use the mixing function of your transmitter, and for that I'll have let somebody that know your transmitter to chime in.

S800 Major Crash - The spin of death

i personally do not think it came undone in the crash. Several months ago I had my S800 crash into my car while it was doing a good 30mph (long story). Though it broke a lot of stuff, none of the solder joints anywhere came undone. Just another data point.

Show what you filmed - Post Your Video Here

Really sorry about the loss. For me, unless I'm missing something, the issue is simply that you were descending straight down... at least that's what it looks like from the video. Descending straight down is a big problem for MRs and helicopters because you're not flying in "clean" air. There...

Wish I never bought this thing!!!!

Glad we could help! One last thought for you to consider... and I can't say this with absolute certainty, but I believe your Course Lock and Home Lock modes will only work if you are in GPS. If that is the case, then you may have a brain teaser problem that may mess up your brain if you're not...

Wish I never bought this thing!!!!

You don't need six or seven, but if you can use one of those for a 3 position switch and connect it to the X2 input, then you can use the 2 IOC modes that the Naza supports. The two modes allow you to fly the aircraft irrespective to the orientation of it. Read up the manual on it, and try to...
