    Do ESCs produce RF noise

ummmm... I just paid a test house £8000 to get a breath analyser through European RF emission regulations. The analyser failed until a shed load of ferrets were fitted to remove the one errant frequency spike...... perhaps should've just bought an RF Explorer!

S900 Owner's Thread and Mini Build Log

Ed. Can I just check that with the new GH4 gimbal they have solved the horizon drift problem associated with the pan axis? Im about to pull the trigger on a s900 setup but the gimbal is actually the only part I really want at this point in time? Thanks. Lec

Best way to use a torque driver?

Thanks for the interesting answers guys. Looks like it's a case of just figuring out a value by trial and error and duplicating it elsewhere to get consistency. Not forgetting to correctly lock tight it as well. andy

Best way to use a torque driver?

We run a DJI S1000 and with an eye on upcoming changes in UK operating permissions, I've invested in a set of adjustable torque wrenches so that frame components can be tightened in place correctly to defined and recordable values. These values do not yet exist apart from DJI's statement that...

S900 Owner's Thread and Mini Build Log

Ed.. I was hoping you'd ask DJI rather than tear your machines apart! The S900 manual is on DJI's web site now and the section on the grommets is It's an interesting thing for DJI to do. Don't know if it's to fill a gap or prevent chafing but if the copper wears and drops into the ESC it...

S900 Owner's Thread and Mini Build Log

Another question to Tahoe Ed... Have just read through the S900 manual and it seems there is a different arrangement for the motor anti vibration isolators compared to the existing S1000. Between the motor mounting plate and the rubber grommets are a pair of copper discs. I assume these are part...

    Sub 7kg with Movi M5

We're not the only ones fretting over whether batteries should or should not be included in weight calculations. The bigger guys were worrying about it years ago, haven't seen a definitive answer for them either. However the few manufacturers do quote an empty weight including batteries...

S900 Owner's Thread and Mini Build Log

Ed A question about the motor mounts. On the S1000 they are machined aluminium but plastic on the S900. The motor plate bolts are lock tited in to the aluminium mounts, this is not an option for the plastic mounts. How do you secure these bolts against loosening through vibration? andy PS...

    GPS Jamming NOTAM Aug 2014

Most GPS jamming exercises are noted here http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/spectrum/gps-jamming-exercises/?pageNum=1#in-this-section There was a similar exercise same time last year. Nobody noticed that, so only really worry if you're pretty close. The exercise area is a restricted danger area...

The ALL New DJI S900 Hexacopter!

Try putting a couple of small zip ties around the front knob with the lumps at say 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock. You can then sense its position by touch. it worked for us with a Graupner Tx. andy

The ALL New DJI S900 Hexacopter!

For a two man operation, the camera guy decides when to pan/tilt/roll, you as the pilot just keep the multirotor in the air and follow his instructions. You can't have two people with their eyes off the aircraft. andy
