    A place for mourning?

@Cash Williams , I sure hope so. The P3 is a pretty good deal now, while the P4 has some great features, the camera itself is not much of an improvement over the P3P. If you don;t need 4K, the advanced is a great deal, at less than half the cost of a P4 or Typhoon H.

Typhoon, Xiro, Chroma? What's your favorite consumer drone?

@Talon Six , DJIs marketing:) What really changed my mind is the video capabilities with active track and tap fly, the obstacle sensing feature, 25+ minute flight time, and 45Mph speed in Sport mode (wicked fast). The camera is really just a marginal improvement, so I would not swith from P3P to...

Phantom 4 announced today and the specs look good

@John Locke great points, I now had a week to play with the P4, so I'll do a little "review update" to include the zoom and few other things I learned with it. I have not tested the range yet, the furthest I've been with it was about 3500 ft. with no problems. I do not fly out of LOS, so as long...

    A place for mourning?

Interesting, I had this happen with a Naza V1 a few times, fortunately for me the copter has just flown itself into bushes and a field, but in a very similar fashion that you described. It felt like the IMU lost the horizon reference and got confused. I've experienced a prop slip on one of my...

    Where's Papa

@John Locke @Talon Six , thank you for the "inspiration", I'll be happy to cover most of these on the Podcast, and find "experts" to interview about the subjects I'm not too familiar with. Please, keep the questions coming, this is exactly want we created the forum for. Cheers!

    A place for mourning?

@Cash Williams that sucks, sorry to hear that. I do a lot of flying over water, and know that the odds are slowly stacking against me. What flight controller did you use? Did you have any control of the copter at all?

    Introduce Yourself

Yep, the soccer mom with an SLR again, with an aviation component to it. No worries, as I said, it's just some segments of the market, I'm actually perfectly fine with doing some less RE work, lol. I just put it out there for people who are debating spending a ton of money on 333 and a license.

    Introduce Yourself

@Ian McDonnell , yes, in some segments of the market. Since the consumer machines are getting pretty capable, there is a flood of "professional aerial photographers" in RE and some other lower market segments. The 333 exemption itself has a lot of limitations, and the amount of admin work...

    Introduce Yourself

@Ian McDonnell , welcome to Drone Vibes, great to hear about your film, can you share it here? The pilot's license and 333 take time and money (mine took 5 months from filing date, and the flying lessons ran me close to $7k). Quite frankly, it opens up some opportunities, but it also makes it a...

    Help with DX7s set-up.

@Gator , that sucks, sorry that happened to you. I messed up once in the past with my 550 and Spektrum DX18. I set up one of the side levers to control the camera tilt, but it was also controlling the remote gain adjustment, so when I tilted the camera down, the copter got really difficult to...

Typhoon, Xiro, Chroma? What's your favorite consumer drone?

I just got my hands on the P4 over this past weekend, and I am simply blown away by it's features (the active track is incredible). Before this I was contemplating keeping my P3P around for a while, but now my P3P is on ebay and I just came back from the Apple store with my shiny new P4. We shot...

Typhoon, Xiro, Chroma? What's your favorite consumer drone?

@Brainscum I actually like Chroma and Typhoon over the Xiro, as far as the camera is concerned. Xiro has the looks, and it's good for the price, but not terribly impressive in the camera department.

    Dubai World Drone Prix Results

I think this will be an inspiration to many kids, kinda brings the "video game experience" into the real world, gets them of the couch, and sue helps with both social and technical skills. Truly a "sport of the future". I'm just waiting for the Drone Battlebot World Championship next:)

Aerial video and photography using drones

@Roger Apolinar , awesome, can't wait to see it. No experience with Airnest, but as long as it does waypoints and can point the camera at one spot, I'm sure it'll work. Please, do post your work, I'm looking forward to seeing it:)

3DR Solo vs DJI Phantom 3 Professional review compare video

@John Locke , all true. I would liken the DJI to Apple (which they're trying very hard to style themselves after). If they are the iPhone, the rest of the guys put together would represent Android - large group in numbers:)

Aerial video and photography using drones

Two seconds is cool, at 2.5 you may get more blurred shots, but your light trails may be longer. You can use waypoints to return to the same spot after the battery change. I am now playing with Litchi and Autopilot as they also help point the camera at the same spot, which helps reduce the...

How to Create Amazing Panoramas with Your Drone

Great point, @Nathan . The kind of panorama you create by moving the camera (drone) in space instead of just turning it is called a linear panorama (the ones in the article are spherical). The linear panos are great, but do not always work out as the perspective changes a little too much. Linear...

How to tell difference between Inspire 1 v1.0 and v2.0

@Arkaybee , the telltale signs is the gimbal plate (the V2 uses a larger X5-style plate even for the X3 camera), the mortors (V2 uses 3510H), and propellers (V2 uses 1345T). Hope this helps.

3DR Solo vs DJI Phantom 3 Professional review compare video

@John Locke I think you're correct about the Lightbridge being the best video downlink available on the consumer market as I also enjoy the incredible distance at which I can still get my HD downlink (and I went from 5.8Ghz to this). I like and fly DJI product, but there are also others that...
