$65K drone crashed: why you should never touch your copter while it is airborne :)

Well I'm sorry, he didn't even see the impact. He had already given up with a dismissive hand gesture and turned around to leave. Once it had wedged itself into the corner I agree, there was time to think before acting. But it must have been some kind of total FC lock out though because he walks...

$65K drone crashed: why you should never touch your copter while it is airborne :)

I agree. You don't just give up like that. As for hired pilots, although I feel the same way about a machine being personal, Flying Cam regularly uses freelance pilots who just turn up and fly, with little responsibility for airframe setup, and they have been operating that way for a good...

$65K drone crashed: why you should never touch your copter while it is airborne :)

I don't think the B.A.D. belongs to the hapless pilot. The comments suggest that he was flying it for someone else. Someone who was paying him a miserly €1500 a month for the job. Maybe if they paid more realistically he would have been less inclined to just give it the "vaffanculo"††...

DJI S1000 Owners Thread - Mini Build Log

Don't kid yourself. Unless you are spending $10,000 on your Flight Control it is "hobby level".

$65K drone crashed: why you should never touch your copter while it is airborne :)

So a quick look at the comments below the video reveal the second to be from the pilot - Fabio - who claims that it was basically doing a fly away and not responding to radio commands. Apparently it was supposed to just go straight up the side of the cathedral and look into an adjacent square...

$65K drone crashed: why you should never touch your copter while it is airborne :)

Whadda yuu expect-a, stupido? It's a Pink Panther script ... transposed to Italy, replete with a typecast Italian Macho swaggering around in his shades with monocular video downlink ... I mean, these boys have all the kit ... and then, at the first sign of trouble .... he runs away ... like...

    iOSD AV2 Not Working

His MRF name is FerdinandK. I know he posted a video showing the two camera switching some time back. Give him a call.

S800 EVO - landing gear help.

Can we go back a couple of steps? I have lost track with the confusion introduced with the retract Green/Red LED and Yellow Flashes then solid Yellow..... ?? Start with listing the airframes and their respective Flight Controls. As I understand you have an S800, which has been modified over...

    iOSD AV2 Not Working

I remember seeing a post a year or two back from a regular around here showing his dual AV switching in action. He would be a good start. Just can't remember his name offhand. Pretty sure he is a German dude, maybe his moniker is Fred...something or other? He was an early zenmuse adopter and...

    iOSD AV2 Not Working

What a difference a single letter can make to the meaning of a whole sentence. Did you mean to write "OK, more DJI woes!"? What downlink are you using? Have I not read that the dual-camera switching only works with the DJI video downlink?

Advice DJI Wookong M VS DJI A2 Flight controller

My first S800/WKM suffered from the vibration thing. The manifestation was a periodic sudden loss of altitude. Fortunately it never smacked the ground but it did come within inches a couple of times. DJI subsequently announced that the existing (plastic cased) IMU was not suitable for use with...

S800 EVO - landing gear help.

A Pembroker! I was staying on the Delamere Ranch, Soysambu by Lake Elmenteita from October last year to a couple of weeks back - escaping winter !! I'll be back there in a few months probably. You had better PM your details so that we can stay in touch if you come across the border.

S800 EVO - landing gear help.

The 'Advanced Gear' Retracts failsafe option is only available with the A2 Flight Control. It has nothing to do with the airframe, i.e. the S800 or the EVO. If your S800 has a Wookong M FC and your EVO has an A2, the different FC's might explain your issue. Swapping retracts and retract...

DJI released its brand new 3-axis gimbal stabilization system, the Zenmuse Z15-BMPCC

Customary parallel universe answer from Ed. What do the S1000 and the S800 have to do with the Zenmuse mounting? Back to the plot ... so it appears that someone just got their balls mixed up for the photo shoot. The most interesting aspect of the Z15-BMPCC is the AV/HD option for the video...

    A2 2.2 Upgrade Guinea Pig

Firmware upgrades are always accompanied by a new iOS app. But make sure you keep the old iOS app before upgrading so that you can go back if the new firmware is squirly.

DJI released its brand new 3-axis gimbal stabilization system, the Zenmuse Z15-BMPCC

Unless the marketing team screwed up assembling it for the photo shoot, I don't like the return to suspension from the silicone balls. It does not work well that way. The Z15-GH3 changed to compression and that does work, without having to resort to third-party mounting solutions to reliably...

    A2 2.2 Upgrade Guinea Pig

I have already detailed elsewhere the faulty new A2 that was installed on an equally brand new EVO where all the CCW motors all spasm-ed. Changing just the Main Controller Unit fixed all that. Just a few subsequent flights seemed to confirm normal operation and so last week I used it on a shoot...

DJI has released new firmware v2.2 for A2 flight controller!

Just an observation from personal experience. Sometimes it is OK with the Anti-Spark and sometimes not. So I use the other method and the small Anti-Spark cables have been shifted across to charging - just to keep all terminals clean.
