    My brushless gimbal result

Hmmm.... dimensionally only slightly larger than a Nex 5n and still within the frame size of the current Nex 5n brushless gimbal. Might require some tweaks to the gimbal to get it to fit well and balance correctly but nothing that can't be solved with a bit of G10 and a milling machine. Shipping...

    FreeFly's direct drive gimbal...

It is OK as long as it doesn't hijack a thread that is either vendor specific (started by a vendor to discuss their product) or takes the original intent of the thread too far off topic. For those that aren't following all the areas of the forum there is some discussion of BL gimbals going on in...

"Splitting" TX Antennas and/or RX antennas with T Splitter???

I'm not an RF engineer but from tinkering with FPV gear for a while I've learned a few things. Main point is most TX see the antenna as a 50 ohm load, adding a splitter and another antenna will change that. Result can be poor performance and decreased range up to blowing the final output on the...

Freefly Systems - Synapse - Flight Controller

There's one of the big problems in a nutshell, untrained users shouldn't be allowed to just dive in simply because they have the $ to make the purchase and think it's a cool thing to do. You can't just jump in a car and drive without a license, nor can anyone climb into a Cessna and go for a...

    My brushless gimbal result

Took the Cinestar out in the field today for the first time with the Brushless gimbal and Nex 5n fully setup. Almost didn't due to the wind blowing up to 20 mph at times, had my hands full just keeping the CS pointed where I wanted at times. Here's a bunch of clips from the flights I did with a...

Alexmos Problem - What blew it up?

Maybe because they're using PPM from the receiver to the Naza and connecting the signal wire to the Naza gimbal channel is the only way to get tilt control from the TX. Can't really think of any other reason at the moment... Ken

Alexmos Problem - What blew it up?

Remove the red wire (+5v) on the wire between the Alexmos controller and the Naza, all you need is signal and ground. Make sure all that gets to the controller is 12v it won't handle 6S. Ken P.S. I've had mine on the bench with 5 volt line connected on the signal wire to the RX along with a 12...

    Photohigher skyline rsgs

I don't know the max spec off the top of my head but it has no problem with a Nex 5n and the 18 - 55mm lens. I suspect anything that fits on the platform and can be properly balanced will work, the balance being a critical factor and the size of the platform being the major limiting factor for...

    YUN-1, anybody else pre-ordered this?

No idea of the weight other than my MK Hexa seems to be OK hauling it around with a Hero HD installed on it and an extra 3S 1300 mAh battery to power it. The stock Hexa V1 is not the most powerful hex out there, the Roxxy motors are on the small side for doing any moderate to heavy lifting. As...

    My brushless gimbal result

Same here. I've never been successful getting the 64 bit version to work on anything I've tried it on, not really a problem as the 32 bit version works fine and there isn't any difference in functionality between the two. I do recall reading something in the Multiwii forums about DLL...

    Photohigher skyline rsgs

Actually they're not fixed to any given configuration, right now they have a maximum weight carrying capability but within that limit you can put virtually anything you want on it and tune it to work properly in a matter of minutes unlike the uncounted hours of my life I've lost trying to make...

The common solution lately seems to be swapping to a brushless gimbal, problem solved. Ken

    FreeFly's direct drive gimbal...

They are brushless motors... "Description Introducing a new multirotor 3-axis digital stabilized camera gimbal so advanced it redefines the possibilities for aerial camera movement. The heart of the gimbal is Freefly’s proprietary high performance IMU and brushless direct drive system. The...

    YUN-1, anybody else pre-ordered this?

That one is little more than a clone of the YUN-1. The only "improvements" I can see is if they include the C/F cage for the GoPro. So far there's only a couple controller boards out there that are proven to work and most of the firmware is barely a step beyond beta test so I have a hard time...

    YUN-1, anybody else pre-ordered this?

I don't get kickbacks but I do often get early delivery while other folks sit at the computer waiting for a tracking number... :D I've been waiting for this technology at a reasonable price for a while now, it's the biggest reason why I didn't jump on the Zenmuse bandwagon, I knew it wasn't...

    FreeFly's direct drive gimbal...

Personally I don't care if it uses tiny hamsters on a treadmill if it works with 100% accuracy. So far I'm finding the two brushless I currently have work as well or better than a Zenmuse and cost about 1/7 or less the price of a Zen. On the other hand, the rumored price for the FreeFly is in...

    YUN-1, anybody else pre-ordered this?

The Nex 5 version is here... http://www.gothelirc.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=201&cat=Brushless+Gimbal Completely different than the YUN-1 that can only carry a GoPro or similar size camera. The Nex version uses the "real" Alexmos controller while the YUN uses a clone. Both seem to work...

Brushless Gimbal Complete - Vendor Links

First test flight of the YUN-1 Gopro gimbal on my MK Hexa. Looks pretty darn solid and near perfectly dialed in right off the bench, not a whole to do other than clean up some details and go fly it... Ken

    YUN-1, anybody else pre-ordered this?

So I decided to brave the gusty wind and give the YUN-1 a go under the MK Hexa, good test of how well it works. I guess I learned a bit about setting these gimbals up from the first one as this one looks to be near perfect off the bench. Couple things still need attention like a full calibration...
