Flying this monster.. Note the cheapo camera for tests such as these.. Yes you now have to set home manually by switching between home lock and off three to four times, you will then see the green flashes indicating it was succesful, otherwise when you switch into failsafe or rtl it doesnt do...

Geoff there is a bug in the 5.12 firmware that has caused lots of problems for Octo users with traditional receiver.. Which is why 5.12a was released you really must upgrade to 5.12a or downgrade to 5.08? 5.08 has been very good no problems.. 5.12a is new with more features, but is still early...

Geoff were you using 5.12 or 5.12a? There is a definate problem with Octo traditional receiver and 5.12. It has caused many crashes.. Nearly me included, but I have been testing 5.12a and not found any real problems yet? altough I haven`t tested waypoints as I dont have a data radio?

You could make an electronic switch to cut off the signal to the ESC? but I highly recommend not doing it! much easier to take off a prop before taking off and make sure the machine cant tip over while testing, no point causing risk or damage if not needed? I have lost a prop during flight...

Its not the servos? I have a completely custom setup mount and servos and it still jitters.. If you change the servos I expect you will still get jitter?
