    What is more stable?

The simple answer to the original question is that a longer lever requires a greater change of distance to acheive the same angular degree change. As the fulcrum of each prop arm is the center of the ariframe, the larger diameter airframes are mechanically more stable. This is why a "+"...

Turn your f550 or 450 into a 600,700,800 plus size

Looks good. I am interested in purchasing the kit for the DJI F550 frame at some point over the next 2 to 3 months once my upgraded F550 with larger motors is flight proven with the aluminum extender plates for the existing DJI arms.

I wish I had known.... F550 purchase, build and first flights..

For the waterproof case hobby shops and some specialty hardware/fastener stores sell a double sided stick rubber tape that is virtually impossible to remove without cutting once applied correctly. Be careful as you cannot remove the rubber tape with a solvent without affecting the transparency...

    DJI Wookong yaws left

All my heli's and multirotors do the same thing if I try to take off too slowly and remain too close to the ground, i.e., fall over to one side or the other. Buming them straight up to 3 feet eliminates the sloppy takeoff. Think of trying to balance a pingpong ball on a tennis ball. That is what...

Dfj f550 hexacopter help, motor selection???

There is interaction between dozens of factors, i.e., multirotor weight, battery volts, amps capacity, esc amp rating, motor rpm, wattage, prop pitch and diameters. A 1350Kv motor is designed to operate over a very wide speed/rpm range relative to a 750 Kv motor which has fewer poles. eCalc for...

    DJI Wookong yaws left

Taking off slowly leaves your machine in the ground effect which creates havoc with flight control. Does it still yaw left if you take off quickly then hover around 3 feet?

    Bizarre Toilet Bowl Blues !

Does TB effect happen while maintaining a constant altitude or when quickly changing altitude? IMHO - The coriolis effect can occur when their is thermal activity or when an aircraft is rapidly changing altitude. In hot air ballooning the pilot can determine whether or not he is rising in a...

f450 battery mount - bottom plate

Re: The red box indicating max current in ecalc provides the maximum safe current value for the motor. Momentarily exceeding 80% throttle likely is not a serious issue if you motors are still running cool. However you still have the option to upgrade the motors to some degree to more powerful...

f450 battery mount - bottom plate

The build looks excellent as do the photos. I assume you have software that can rotate your GoPro videos 180 degrees so they can be viewed rightside up. If you want to reduce the overall weight to gain more airtime, hexagonal nylon standoffs are also available as an option to the aluminum and...

f450 battery mount - bottom plate

I don't have the toilet bowl nor the coriolis effect with mine with naza in center of airframe which is also @ center of gravity and F550 trimmed to stay at one 3d gps location with rc xmitter laying on the ground!

Cold feet syndrome after mysterious crash, am I alone?

Roger, HPR is High Power Rocketry.... You can also use a simple pololu switch connected to your RC receiver spare output to activate a ematch inside a gunpowder charge to deploy a parachute from a tube as done in HPR...

Cold feet syndrome after mysterious crash, am I alone?

There is a relatively low cost and low weight device that will automatically deploy at a preset altitude, of your choice above ground level. Simply a matter of getting the props stopped before the chute deploys and avoiding a tangled mess... http://www.featherweightaltimeters.com/The_Raven.php...

    best carbon fiber?

You can make your own carbon fiber plate quite easily with a simple vacuum bagging system..... but best done at sea level or even lower if that is possible! Infusion methods are sometimes better but check out freemansupply.com or joing compositerocketry yahoogroup for methods for making your own...

NAZA flying below freezing (0 C or 32F)??

A 5.8 Ghz will give you more bandwidth but vastly less range than lower frequencies such as 2.4Ghz, 900 Mhz, 433Mhz. If your RC systems is 2.4Ghz, best not to use that also for video downlinking. I prefer 433Mhz because it is longer range and restricted to use by HAM radio operators which I am...

    Need replacement Electronic Speed Controllers

Can anyone recommend replacement ESCs for my new F550 which is being upgraded to use 6 NTM 35-30 1100kv/380watt motors for more thrust and heavier payloads. Max current for these motors is 32 amps so I could get by with the original 30A opto esc but since I have to buy 6 new ones for the new MR...

I wish I had known.... F550 purchase, build and first flights..

Your hobby shop and some industrial wholesalers carry a double sided rubber tape that is extremely effective above and beyond the doublesided foam tape available from hardware stores. I also use it to hold the velcro to the bakc of the batteries.

f450 battery mount - bottom plate

IMHO - With the Naza mounted off to one side I would expect that it will not spin 180 degrees on the frame center and there might be other issues. The Kalman equations in the IMU are based on having a common center point for the 9 to 12 dof which assumes the IMU, i.e., controller is located at...
