    Question about EC-5 connectors

Sure, my work schedule is kind of crazy but it will eventually match up to where we could get together. I work rotating 12's in the East Bay at the Shell oil refinery so my days are long but I get plenty of days off as well.

    Question about EC-5 connectors

Thanks old man. I have come a long way since wrecking that first battery. I'm pretty much up on everything you recommended except I don't have a 100 watt iron but I can use one at work. I have the jig block to hold them and everything else you mentioned. I will try the hot water trick as well...

    Question about EC-5 connectors

Thanks old man. I found this, it says EC-5 "female" connector. This would be the battery side. It looks like it's 2 female bullets but they actually go into the "male" plastic part. Which is opposite of what I thought. I may have an EC type charge lead around here somewhere, I will also have a...

    Question about EC-5 connectors

So my current build will have EC-5 connectors. I have never got a chance to look at one up close. I bought a couple and need some info. I'm thinking the female plastic part goes on the battery side and the male plastic goes on the other side. But does the female part hold 2 female bullet...

Calculating Required Battery Capacity for build

You may be able to look up your motors on the web. they usually list current draw at different throttle settings and props. Just cause you have 20 amp ESC's doesn't mean that's your current draw. A higher C rating is preferred if you can afford it but not always necessary.

FAA Announces Small UAS Registration Rule

All good comments. Its not so much the fact that were in another database as oldman said were all registered, monitored and cross-connected in everyway possible so its not likely any harm will come from this. It's just that enough is enough, this is just one more unnecessary thing, what will be...

FAA Announces Small UAS Registration Rule

So just to clarify, Its not exactly free the first month? I still have to pay and then they refund me later? Kind of like those damn mail in rebates?

    Question about battery chargers

Whats the watt output per channel? I need at least 5 amps on a 6S battery. So that would be about 125 watts.

FAA Announces Small UAS Registration Rule

Yeah I'm not in love with any of this. It's easy and not restrictive but they can always change the rules later and make it more restrictive once they get everyone registered. Typical behavior for the Govt. Not like it matters anyways. Its a requirement so we should comply. I will ponder it for...

Setup for a beginner looking to race?

You can start right out with a 250 racer. What you will want is to "de-tune" it down a little. The QAV is perfect. Motors and ecsc's shouldn't matter too much but theres no point in getting high end stuff to learn on, Get a FC that you can tune yourself like a cc3d or naze 32. Cool thing is you...

Walkera Furious 320 - 639$. Is it worth to buy?

Very high "cool factor" but I have seen on other forums people complaining about Walkera's customer service. One thing to think about is when you eventually crash it and need parts. Looks like it may be expensive to repair.

    Question about battery chargers

That would just be the DC power supply to the actual battery charger.

    FPV & Naza M Lite

The fact that you have a NAZA M lite is irrelevant. The FPV system is totally separate. Get an all in one package deal like cootertwo suggested. They have some that are powered from the balance plug of your lipo otherwise you will have to solder in a connector. The system should work with a...

    Question about battery chargers

Thanks, One of the pitfalls of going to a larger UAV. Batteries cost more and I have to upgrade my charger as well. Since I will be running dual batteries I am going to get a dual charger too. I'm going to look at converting an old computer power supply first before I buy a new power supply.

    Question about battery chargers

I'm in the middle of a new build and I will be using 6S batteries. The charger I have now will not put out enough power to charge a 6S battery in a reasonable amount of time. Looking to buy a new charger and I see that the DC input types have the most choices. My question is if I get a charger...

    Applications...What's Yours??

Still photography and video. I am always amazed by the nature programs that get the beautiful overhead hi-res shots with a helicopter or UAV. My desire to get that kind of video is how I got started in UAV's. Along the way I have learned as much about cameras and video production as I have about...

    Build Comparison, newbie

I would agree on that 30 minute time. Even that's tough if you want a camera/gimbal, FPV etc. I have Tarot 680 hex that weighs 3 kg AUW and I get around 10 min on a 5000 mah batt with 13" props. The 10" props on your option#2 is probably a no go.

    Searching my first Quadcopter

Well then I would say as long as you don't find any negative reviews of the quadcopter and you think it would be a good fit for you then by all means get it. I am not familiar with the ardupilot controller but I have never heard of anything bad about it and as long as the radio works well then...

    Searching my first Quadcopter

Well I suppose it's ok. It's basically component's that are commonly available on their 3d printed frame. Motors, props,ESC's and battery's are easy to come by but I would be interested in what kind of flight controller it has and what kind of radio your getting. It seems expensive for something...

    How many here are Hams?

I'm just the type to say screw the govt but the older i get the more I see the value in playing along. Some things I would never comply with and its too soon to tell how this supposed registration thing is going to play out. I am really interested in getting a commercial license but the 333...
