    ESC Testing

Why don't you swap it out with another motor and see what it does. That should tell you if it's the motor or the ESC. Most likely it is the motor windings where the main cables are joined. Most windings are more than one strand per phase so it is likely that not all have good contact. :tennis...

    WARNING - Firmware 5.24

The indication is that the sunspot maxima affects the earlier version GPS a lot more than the V2. You can also give yourself some improvements by shielding your compass with a special kind of metal tape. It is used normally in HiFi equipment. I will try and find where I got this stuff from. With...

    WARNING - Firmware 5.24

Bart Actually they are only covered for visual awareness. The construction of the arm is made up of end grain balsa and carbon prepreg. in a dual section. The ESC and wiring was blended with nothing more elaborate than shoe goo to waterproof it and generally smooth it out. Teamflail In my...

    WARNING - Firmware 5.24

Bart Ah, so you do find the time to occasionally pitch in with a little counter opinion. No doubt ruffled your feathers with the thought that your DSLR elephant might be a bad idea in the light of natural redundancy. So, as you did take the time to look I will try to explain as much as I can...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Arducopter 3.0 on SRHeli Demonstration

Rob That is nice, It does all that Naza-H does and a lot more besides. I am getting tempted to try this now that the reliability seems to be there. My helis are in the hangar at the moment so this might be the time to go for it.

    3 Axis Brushless Handheld Stabilizer

A genuine steadicam uses what is known as an isoelastic arm to float the mass. It takes training to do it properly The same would apply to an electronic mount.

    WARNING - Firmware 5.24

Actually the piece of wood at the back was not my idea. Someone else who was pitching for the job wanted it. I simply put my hand out and catch it. Thats also a better solution for T/O as well because you don't get hit with the swell..... It is the high level of concentration in the 40 deg+...

    WARNING - Firmware 5.24

It is advisable to not move your craft in the first 5 sec from start-up. In this situation that was not possible so I did a recalib. at the start of each days filming. I had no problems with the stability and the lift-off was always straight up and rock solid all the way.

how to pick the right ESC for the motor

The tuning of the ESC is different for all motors. To get the optimum performance you should look at ESC32 from Viacopter there are many presets for standard motors if you don't want to run the learning curve. I have used Simonk with a couple of T-Motors and they were running a little too hot.

Flying over Navy Ships and Offshore rigs.

Interesting mix of ideas. I have spent the last few weeks shooting from boats and all I can say is that I take off in GPS and no matter how much tilt the boat has and how much swell takes me up and down, when it lifts off it always rises straight up. Most of my work is over water and the only...

    Tau Labs OP Developers banned

Better idea would be to ban the raving nutcase himself. You know with a W not a D. All of the best people have now gone from there. Was he ever a junior school teacher by chance?

    WARNING - Firmware 5.24

Another good day and now only about 4 nests to do. Four of us went out in the boat and all came back with a smile on the face, and the GPS v2's all working fine. Imagine working from a nice cool boat in perfect surroundings. Ah... life's a ***** but some poor sod has got to do it.:tennis...

    WARNING - Firmware 5.24

Teamfail thanks and Dave, All I can say is that after fitting a new V2 it was a different machine, It felt really locked-in. It's 6 am. now and about to start another day at the office. A window of about 3 hours before the wind and temp. kill me. These machines have 25 min. duration.

    WARNING - Firmware 5.24

I have been using it a lot recently, I had an issue with the GPS dropping out but I assumed it was due to it being an old one that had been knocked about a bit. I changed it to a new V2 unit and so far not had any problems. When it dropped out I ended up with my aileron and elev. sticks right in...

NAZA M Lite has attacked me twice!

I have tested Naza-M in some extreme conditions of take-off. I once removed the U/C and it was sitting on the ground at about 40 deg of tilt. It still leveled itself and lifted-off perfectly. I have only one gripe about the Naza and that is the LED module that has failed a couple of times now...

Another Phantom Fly Away - IMPORTANT

I was testing one of my small Naza/quads on the RTH and obviously I did not have enough sats. when I took off so it came home to the wrong place. Took me 40 mins. to find it as it flew over a road into a taverna area. It landed ok in a car park, but when I got there some kids had stolen my GoPro.

DJI Released New Firmware 3.14 for Naza-M V1、V2 And Phantom!

hoggdoc I made some noise and they responded. Lets not forget that what they took on was a massive job and I think they are now on the right track again. PR is not their strength but technical innovation is ahead of the rest. The chinese opposition will keep em on their toes no doubt and help...

Attack on the drones, is shooting with a drone camera legal?

Usually when the CAA bring a case to court they never loose. That is because they have the evidence, if they don't have that, then it never gets to court. Most full size pilots who get convicted of low flying etc. verbal themselves into a conviction. Investigators are usually retired police...

DJI Released New Firmware 3.14 for Naza-M V1、V2 And Phantom!

Having been entirely happy with my Naza-H I upgraded my old Naza-M to the latest firmware and I have to say how impressed I am with it. They certainly have done something with the stab. algorithm which is a massive step up from what I saw last year. BTW the H and the M GPS is transferable...
