first build thread: lessons and learning to follow...

Agreed....I don't like to get up in arms about things and hopefully they will make it right. Scott....I have been looking and there seems to be some sort of spacer you can use but I am not entirely certain. When I figure it out I will let you know! BTW....your Step Dad would make a nice...

    tell me what i want

Jay, I simply hit "Prnt Scrn" and copy that to the paint program on the computer. Then I just size it to fit and print. Works pretty good but it would be nice if there was a print option! I too have pieces of paper laying around with miscellaneous notes scrawled all over them! Time to get...

Thanks Ben, I am new to this....do you purchase those connectors or do you make them yourself.....I am not certain just what the connector is. Mike EDIT: I did a quick search on Youtube and found this explanation......very easy to understand!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4KPGl1NMsg

Yeah....will see what happens....it is still being "validated"...the RMA that is. Thanks for the tips on the motors! I am going to pick up some of the connectors as well. I see this becoming a cool hobby! Your step-dad will LOVE the Nano! It is a hoot to fly....but you already know that...

Great to know Scott! I will be putting these on order tonight I suppose! Did you get bullet connectors for the wires? If so was there an appropriate size? BTW....I have been flying the hell out of my NQX and am getting MUCH more comfortable getting it to do just what I want! This will...

What batteries to buy - Total Noob

Just out of curiosity..... How would one run twin packs in parallel? Is there a good resource to show how to do this and the care needed to do it safely? Thanks! Mike :)

WHOO HOOOOO SCOTT!!!!! Glad you made it there safe and sound! I am going to go with the same motors you did but I am still trying to wrap my head around the long shaft issue. Did you get a spacer or something or did you end up just cutting the shafts? I don't have a dremel as of yet so I...

    tell me what i want

Jay, Yeah it is thin but I'm used to it ;) Most of my flying will be done upwards of 10,000' to 12,000' as that is where I like to spend most of my time in the mountains! I am catching up on the learning curve rapidly and feel much more comfortable with it today! Still awaiting parts and...

Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

The Tiger Motors are out of my budget right now so I am leaning on getting these from HobbyKing.... http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__28115__D2830_11_1000kv_Brushless_Motor_USA_Warehouse_.html They perform well in the eCalc program and are around $10.00 a piece......they get decent...

eCalc info for mine.... Thanks for the tips guys! Scott, I had already read and re-read that FAQ....there are some other good ones out there and I understand the concepts (at least I think)..... Here is what I came up with last night and hopefully it will help the OP......NOTE: the elevation...

    tell me what i want

It is funny with the eCalc....I can put in various motors but it is tough to understand the relationships between the battery choice and the motors. I am trying to figure out just what the "RED WARNINGS" that come up are. With a few of the choices it says I have to run the throttle at 80% or...

Here ya go Scott!!! http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2028001 Hope that helps! I am still trying to figure the eCalc thing out as well.....Scott I'll PM ya on the details as not to clutter this up. For some reason the numbers are just not coming out.....

I am trying to do this on a budget as well! I will be using a Mobius Action Cam to video my escapades when the time arises. If you haven't seen them they are really pretty cool. I have been using it as a dash cam for the car when I get the chance and especially when I go to the track!

7808.....I am working with eCalc as well and trying to figure it out. Motopreserve linked to an example from another site that I am playing with. I am going to be using a DJI F450 frame on mine and will be working through the eCalc stuff tonight. When I figure it out I will try to help if I can!

Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

Looking great guys! I just picked up the DJI F450 frames from ClubHeli and am awaiting delivery! I also picked up some Tarot LED kits to place on the arms to assist in orientation in low light conditions. Now I just have to get the rest of the parts and hopefully I will be up and running soon!

Ahhh I understand your rationale now Scott! Good to have some sacrificial "crunch" points rather than have it transfer to the electronics. I also understand how you will be mounting the camera as well. I just ordered my frame....went with a DJI F450 setup (x2)....got a good deal at ClubHeliRC...

Should I Buy a Spare Motor?

Dezy.... I am going the opposite route. I KNOW I am going to have some crashes so extra props are a must! As well as spare arms! With that being said, I am going to get a spare motor. I would hate to have one go out and not be able to fly and have to end up waiting a couple of weeks for a...

Looks great Scott! I am not a Hot Glue type of person....LOL. Most of my hot glue stuff comes from me fixing my wife's Christmas decorations :) I would be a bit concerned that the glue may not hold up in a landing (hard). You might be able to drill a tiny hole in the aluminum and perhaps the...

Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

Not entirely certain Crisp Image.....I have elected to go the F450 route and am ordering some of the parts now. I did a ton of research on frames/controllers etc and have found that the F450 is right up my alley! I am not going with the NAZA FC though....I will be using the KK2.1 for a couple...
