    Another power distribution thread

I use Photoshipone's Power distribution board. You can connect up to 8 esc and 2-4 batteries. I also have Afropower, but I haven't used it.

Tiger 2814 (aka Avroto, QC, Quadpower, etc.) max lifting experiences?

I just finished a Y6 build with Avroto 2814/11s. I use 30 amp DJI esc and the copter weighs approximately 6 pounds. It will be close to 8 pounds once I get a light camera gimbal for my sony Nex 5n and FPV camera. I had these motors on a flat hexa and they performed flawlessly. I'm working...

    How to hijack a Drone!

I think you can spoof a car's GPS and make the driver think that they are going to a certain location. If my multicopter behave badly, I just switch to "Attitude Mode". Spoofing may be a good solution to protect areas from drone attacks/incursions.

Advice for getting started with multi-rotor helicopters

Use good props. Props are probably the cheapest part on a multi rotor and it's a part that will bring your craft down if they break. APC, Graupner, or Xoar. Nothing else. Oh...don't buy into the carbon fiber craze. It seems most props break at the hub. Watch how much pressure you apply...

    Y6 Builders thread

Here she is. Raven. Testing the throttle response. I hovered inside the house. Its very nimble, and quick. I converted DJI's F550 frame to accept Avroto motors. I have 11 inch Graupner props. Hopefully the loading won't be too much for the 30 amp escs. Im looking forward to putting...

    lipo vs props

Thank you Team Black Sheep! I just built a Y6 and I had to increase throttle past half just to get it airborne and hover. In manual mode the craft felt as if it would launch if I put the throttle past half mark. I may adjust the vertical gains after another test in manual mode.

    Super-size my F550

10 inch props is the max without extensions. i was able to put 11 inch props on in a Y6 conversion:

    Super-size my F550

Sorry for the confusion. I converted my F550 into a Y6 and that allowed for the use of 11 inch props without extensions.

    Super-size my F550

Sorry for the confusion. I converted a F550 into a Y6. The spacing allows for 11 inch props without extensions.

NAZA prop broke and landed in pond

Don't buy into the cost of a prop thing. I paid almost $20 bucks each for six full carbon fiber props hearing that they were the rage. Less than five minutes of flight time (2nd flight) one prop broke sending my thousands dollar craft to the ground. Look at the material and not the cost...

    5.14a Update

I looked at that setting and chose not to use intelligent go home. I like the new setting that allows you to input the altitude the craft will climb to return home. I would be dropping bricks if I saw my craft climb higher than expected. You have to have a great deal of trust in any automated...

    Police UAS Guidelines

Yes. Can you imagine the outcry if the public found out that police departments in the US were putting lethal weaponry onto autonomous drones? We don't live in a war zone. It will never be accepted. People are already paranoid about hobby use of remote controlled aircraft and "drones"...

    Police UAS Guidelines

I just read the guildlines/document. I can't see arming a multirotor aircraft for police use. These multi rotors can carry only a few ounces and are limited by flight time. The best use for these drones are aerial command and control. Even that is limited by time to remain airborne. The...

    5.14a Update

Anyone tried the new RTH feature? Descent rate is now based on height. I'm assuming it will slow down the closer it gets to the ground vs. maintaining an increased rate. Anyone try yet??

    High Altitude Disaster

1: that's some serious altitude. The F.A.A would be quite bothered by its height. 2: nice view. I'm guessing 2 thousand feet. 3: RTH will fly back to where it was launched and begin a slow descent to land. You need to make sure you have enough battery left for its auto descent. 4...

DJI needs to get their SH*T Together!!!!

APC props are cheap, take a beating, and are so much more forgiving when handled incorrectly.

Proposal to change the dji forum in 2 sections.

DJI needs to get their SH*T Together!!!!

You can't deny the many complaints/videos posted of prop failures. Graupner's have a warning label about max rotational speed. So many things affect the props. Temperature, weight of craft, prop material (plastic, carbon, wood, etc.), prop design: Are the blades formed as one piece like a...

DJI needs to get their SH*T Together!!!!

Until that data is compiled I would stick with majority consensus on reliable prop brands. APC, Graupner, Xoar. They each have their pluses and minuses. Having an unproven brand prop disintegrate in flight is unacceptable. I see more and more of these craft flown in populated areas and it...
