    Battery sizing!

I maintain an attitude of being vendor neutral but......... IMHO - If you do some investigative reading on this topic you should discover that there are certain brands that are using newer, more efficient LiPo electrochemistry that enables higher energy density along with faster charging and...

    DJI F550 Hexa Gains

You may find the following to be quite interesting with respect to gain and rate control for Multicopters. http://wiki.openpilot.org/display/Do...ng++Multirotor including a video etc. PID loop tuning is very common to our industry. DJI and others try to make it simple....BUT!!!

    WKM waypoint HEIGHT OFFSET

I have always assumed that the altitude offset has nothing to do with actual flying..... only the virtual appearance of the MR within GCS Google Earth Overlay! Hope this assumption is correct..... can somewhere confirm or clarify this before I start flying with GCS?

    DJI F550 Hexa Gains

I don't think manual mode won't tell you anything as manual mode only uses the gyro stabilization and it is a ***** to control in manual unless you have used it a lot.

    DJI F550 Hexa Gains

Bump them up about 1/2 way toward the S800 settings then leave one Tx analog dial configured to fine tune gain in the Basic Gain in the air (pitch and roll only). Leave Attitude gain alone until basic gain is close to what you want within 90 to 95% of your target tuning. Close the last 5% gap...

Naza GPS and Futaba 8FG and R6208SB RX not playing nicely together.

I have two F550's one with NAZA other with WKM. Both operate using same Futaba 8FG Super. One uses the R6208SB.... other uses the Frsky 8???SB. Both work perfectly virtuall all the time. I followed Jon DesJardins's Youtube video on Futaba switch config's with Naza made it all so simple. Many...

    Pre-Flight Checklists (Flamewheel)

Bonafide.... That is a good question..... There must be 50 things that could possibly go wrong before most flights and 100 for first timers!!! 1Verify all that is possible to verify on the workbench/table with RC transmitter on, PC connected and NAZA assistant running. 2Doublecheck...

    WKM waypoint HEIGHT OFFSET

Sounds very encouraging...... I hope to be doing the same in a few days or weeks...... Seems to me I read from someone with experience with GCS that one should avoid the click and go mode or was it auto takeoff or one could be into the trees in no time...... seems to me one needs a 3D home point...

Motor Swapout Data...very good info and very interesting...

Granted there several counter-intuitive aspects of ECalc for Multicopter such as: a) xcopter weight with and without "drive"..... (doublecheck with the bottom reported AUW - all up weight to gain perspective and lot this data correctly at the get go)!!! b) erroneous data presented as fact when...

    Wookong Woes

There should be some gain adjustment required BUT..... did you first make the required adjustments to the "z" factors in both of the following?

    Battery sizing!

That is a loaded question as there are many factors to take in to account including the number of poles on your motors, prop diameter and pitch and your MR all up weight. In general more volts translates to a broader range of motor rpm A 3S battery is 3 cells in series: 3 x 3.7volt cells = 11.1...

    HomeBuilt GoPro3 Gimbal

For what it is worth..... A large 468 landing gear and gimbal assembly was modified to accomodate a new GoPro3. The short carbon fiber tubes were discovered to be carbon fiber arrow shafts. Longer tubes were cut and installed to add stronger support for larger and heavier MR. Plastic eave trough...

    F550 Radio Setup

ditto.... check this out for parallel "Y" connector. I ordered one and will know the connecting wire size when it arrives. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__23132__XT60_Harness_for_2_Packs_in_Parallel_1pc_.html saves space and weight too.

    Wookong Woes

99% probabilty there will be no issues with your WKM. Just make sure your transmitter is tellind the WKM exactly what it is supposed to be doing and nothing more. WKM assisant enables you to fully prove functionality on the bench (all except for aerial stability which can be fine tuned in the...

FUTABA - Flying NAZA and WKM with One Transmitter

Did you decide to use both Fail safe systems, i.e., the original + the enhanced fail safe or chose one of the two only? I would like to simplify that setup to eliminate potential confusion.

    Wookong Woes

That brings up a very good point. I came across a similar situation with the Assistant software where a Transmitter switch set up for the Trainer box was actually interfering with the IOC function. The issue was in the transmitter ofcourse and not in the Naza or WKM controller. Specifc controls...

    F550 Radio Setup

Crashmaster.... thanks for the excellent information on the batteries and why the intermittent red flashing occurs. As for the DJI F550 prop recommendations, I have been consistently using the efficient 9 x 5 Graupner's with 4C batteries with great success..... so this might be one exception to...

    Wookong Woes

For what it is worth I have had many dozens, if not hundreds of flights on my NAZA GPS and also on my WooKong GPS so far. Only a minor glitch with the NAZA such that I covered one side of the Naza controller with black tape to resolve rapidly changing altitude which occured once or twice. So the...

    Battery sizing!

That's a lot of weight for the F550..... so the time looks about right for that combination. But you can still upgrade your motors a bit and get by with your stock 30 amp escs and 10x5 Graupners which is what I did. I then added two 3S 5000 mah 25-35C Turnigy batteries in parallel and I get 15...

Preventing a MR from taking off inadvertently

I have never had an issue with the MR taking off while in GS simulation mode. But..... I do tie my MR down to the top of a step ladder as a precaution. I don't believe in using fuses for any object that is designed to fly even for ground testing purposes!!!! Think about it ;-)
