FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

Congrats dude, I am jealous. I love FreeFly stuff. SO how is the Synapse? I have been wanting to fly it for 3 years. I used to be on the short list to review it when it was going to be a stand alone FC, but then... NOPE! Does it still have all the features the Synapse teaser video showed? It is...

What is the most efficient setup?

Not really, a properly set up quad can be just as stable as an octo. The only think you are doing by adding motors is increasing lift capacity and potentially adding redundancy. (ie. I have had a quads motor fail and the rig crashed. I have had a 30 lb X8 lose a motor and I hardly noticed.

Firmware update (V2.5) for A2 pulled after defects noted by users

If you use the right receiver then yes. Basically the Internal rec would take Sbus 1 -8 and the external (if set up properly) could use the PPM channels 9-14.

What is the most efficient setup?

Less energy expended would provide longer flight times. Most of the long duration rigs are QUADs with very low KV motors (Such as the U8's or U11's) spinning 26 - 28" props on 8S - 12S power systems. These can reach well over an hour flight times.

    3DR Solo in Malta

Solo in Malta This month the 3DR flight team went out to Malta to shoot on set with Solo for an upcoming feature film. Outside of the film we packed in our own Solo shoots in as many locations as possible, which led to a nice new video that showcases all of the different Smart Shots used in...

I've tried it and if it helps I didn't notice. But I did notice a ESC temp increase and weird yaw habits. ;)

Hexacrafter X8 - Finished and Ready for Service!

Not at all. Let me assure you that this is not just me, I discussed at length with Andrew, Jim and others what components to use. Still now, Andrew woudl recommend teh T-motor 60AMP ESC's, but they were not out when I started this build. But the frame, motors, and gimbal I can not recommend enough!

Hexacrafter X8 - Finished and Ready for Service!

No joke, I would 100% suggest calling Andrew before you purchase a rig, as he REALLy knows his rigs and can seriously direct you into the right direction.

Hexacrafter X8 - Finished and Ready for Service!

I have the M5 tripod gear and although some love them I do not. Few reasons, it seems like the gimbal needed aditional tuning from the forces of the wind hitting the gear, not a HUGE problem but more time, and 2, when you have the tri-pod gear attached, it's pretty impossible to fly 1 man even...

Hexacrafter X8 - Finished and Ready for Service!

If all wives would turn their heads and not look, My total for this beast adds up. But a reliable rig is not cheap. So with the (2) 10,000 Pulse 6S packs sitting on it, A2, Avroto Motors, Spider ESC's, Heat Sinks, Bullet connectors, PRC8 Batt connectors, 15" Carbon Props, Hexacrafter Airframe...

Hexacrafter X8 - Finished and Ready for Service!

Those are the $128 Tarot Landing gear that everyone is using. I have had 5 pairs now on 5 rigs and only had one problem and that happened when walking up some stairs. The Tarot gear are seriously awesome and cheap enough to keep an extra set in the "spares" tub in your work kit. And for this...
