    KDE Direct Dynamometer Development

Now that is great- not just the process that you are going through but the fact that you are telling us. Im just peeved that I bought U7s just before your released your equivalents but then that's the nature of this game at the mo. One question though, what props do you use for your testing and...

    Wiring Diagrams

Be careful with those Max Amp batteries. If I remember correctly they are marketed as 40c batteries. The problem is that the way Max Amps markets them, they use the peak C rating and not the constant rating. I emailed Max Amps directly when my ones didnt seem to give the grunt that I expected...

    Lightbridge for Video Only?

If you are using this with a Transmitter on 2.4GHZ that is not going to be used with the Lightbridge, I wouldn't bother. The Lightbridge soaks up the entire 2.4GHZ band which I think is why DJI have set Lightbridge up to combine the video feed and command link into one.

    LIPO voltages

Fly until you have used 80%, let the batteries recover a touch and I bet you will find that the resting voltage is somewhere around 7.5v ie once the batteries have cooled down. It's this resting voltage that is the important one rather than the in air voltage.

Best way to use a torque driver?

The CAA are tightening up permissions to fly in urban areas or 'congested areas' (CA) as it is officially known. In short they are wanting operators to provide a much more detailed safety case for the aircraft they wish to use in CAs so that the CAA can better evaluate both the aircraft, AND the...

Aeronavics / Droidworx Recommended Gimbals - 2014 and the ideal brushless solution

If you are only going to use one camera with one lens then the Zenmuse range is damned hard to beat. Otherwise it would be something like a Movi M5.

    Medium strength is the stuff.

Best way to use a torque driver?

Hi Andy, I have been building helis for a few years now and if lock tight is used then finger tight works very well in my experience. So if torque data is not available I would work out what torque value for finger tight is- or whatever you feel happy with and then use that figure on your screws...

    A2 test rig

Dont draw any conclusion until you have at least 30 flights, better yet 50. The failures I have been involved with have all happened after numerous flights.

    Sub 7kg with Movi M5

There is no change to the with without fuel. It always has been 7 AND 20kg 'without fuel' and batteries have never been considered 'fuel'. Thus the 20 and 7 kg limits have always been inclusive of battery weight. So what is the 'latest band' or am I missing something here?

    Sub 7kg with Movi M5

The CAA's views are that as a battery does not change weight during flight, batteries are very much included in the mass of the aircraft. They should be making this very clear on the BNUC and RPQ course. They certainly did when I did the BNUC course

    Sub 7kg with Movi M5

Im on holiday at the moment and so can't really comment on this as I am too busy drinking beer by the pool and spending good time with the kids! Once I am back I will get back to you having looked into things. One thing to bear in mind, the 7kg limit is indeed based on KE however the...

How would the DJI Ronin mount to a Multi Rotor?

Knowing the weight of a Skyjib with Axi 4120-20s, adding a Ronin and then a Red would give you a flight time of about 4 mins tops I reckon. Bear in mind that the weight of the Ronin might be including the handlebars but in airborne mode you will need to add legs/retracts. Not sure if it will fit...

Wookong M compass will not calibrate correctly.

Yup, it's me! Like Ben, I have been using 5.26 without any issue. I haven't heard of many issues with this version so I think you should be fine. Just avoid the A2 haha!

Wookong M compass will not calibrate correctly.

When you do the calibration, take it a good 10m away from things like mobile phones, your transmitter, the flight case etc. In other words, get the copter on its own with nothing metalic or emitting near by. I don't think this is relevant but it might help, try not to spend so long in the...

Headed to London, wanting to fly...

The biggest reason to stay clear from the Thames (includes things like the London Eye), is that it is the UK's busiest helicopter lane (full size that is, not RC!).

Might move back to A2 Firmware version 2.1

5.26 on WKM works very well. Loads of flights without issue on this firmware and I know of loads of others who have flown 5.26 without issue either.

Might move back to A2 Firmware version 2.1

In my experience, it doesn't matter which firmware you are on from 2.1 onwards, the faults existed in all. Most of the crashes I dealt with were with 2.1 but that was before 2.3 came out. Pick your poison I would say.

Take care with the new 2.3 software for A2 Today i crashed my Evo 800 S with Z15

Well can't speak for which port Crowjet had his iOSD plugged into but I triple checked my canbus plugs and my iOSD was plugged into Can 1 and as I said, it didn't record properly but a good point none the less from Ed. Oh, and my iOSD was at the correct firmware level too. it would be worth...
