    For the Nikon guys

Yep. Nikon System 1. I use one on my hexa. Jack

    I Assume it's the Gains...

None of the motors have a gritty feeling, but one seems to have a very slight bit of slop in it (i.e., I can move it ever so slightly side-to-side---not rotational, but side-to-side). It's so minor, I didn't think much of it, but it's there. When I decided to resurrect my F450 (after...

    I Assume it's the Gains...

That's pretty much what mine looked like the first couple times I tried Manual Mode. Don't know what happened today---somehow I "fat-fingered" it. If I was to convert my existing frame to a TBS Discovery, with no intention of FPV, do you think my existing motors would work and would I need the...

    I Assume it's the Gains...

I may have to retract my last statement. I just viewed some earlier video from the F450 with the GoPro mounted on the forward tab of the lower plate and note that while there's a lot of "jello" in the video, the horizon is very stable. So you may be on to something. Unfortunately, the landing...

    I Assume it's the Gains...

Good thought. But in reviewing video of the maiden flight of the quad, I note the same thing was going on. I should mention that the Naza & DJI ESCs used for the maiden flight were moved to my hexa, and this Naza and four DJI 30A ESCs are new---same motors though. Jack

10x5L Graupners. I ordered two pairs from electricwingman this morning---only place I could find with right-hand props (for spares). Jack

    I Assume it's the Gains...

I removed the GoPro case/camera from the landing gear and mounted a 3S 2170 battery centered on the top plate. I also set the gains to 136 136 150 150 - 149 149 and re-calibrated the sticks. I flew briefly (about 1 min.) in Atti Mode. We had little or no wind and it hovered pretty well &...

    I Assume it's the Gains...

Oh, that Apple. They're in Cupertino, about 100 miles SW of me. But I am a fan with iMac, iPad, iPod, etc. And yeah, we're in the foothills AKA Gold Country and the Mother Lode. Forty miles due east of Stockton. Jack

    I Assume it's the Gains...

Thanks for the input, guys. I really appreciate your willingness to try and help me out. I'll try to answer all the questions and address the suggestions... Not sure if any motor is hotter than another---I'll check next time i fly (in the morning when it's relatively calm). But the motors...

    I Assume it's the Gains...

No...it's rock country. I made a video this morning even though we had a bit of breeze. I set the camera on a tripod facing up and tried flying over it. I didn't have the proper autofocus setting, so it's a little blurry I also had it zoomed too far in, so the quad keeps flying in & out of...

I haven't forgotten. The wind just won't die. Jack

    I Assume it's the Gains...

Thanks for the insight. I was wondering what a video of the props was going to show. Curious...how does the CG change during a pirouette? Jack

    I Assume it's the Gains...

Thanks. Soon as the wind dies down I'll do that. Jack

    I Assume it's the Gains...

I need some guidance from the experts. I'm having difficulty getting my non-GPS, Naza-powered F450 to hover (and fly) smoothly---it seems to constantly be "hunting" in both pitch & roll. Not a lot, but enough that the horizon in my videos oscillates back-and-forth constantly. The 'copter is a...

    Flying Using Digital Trims

    I've Seen the Light

Got the new 10x5 Graupners yesterday. Balanced & mounted them. I can't believe what a difference they made. The sound, alone, of them spinning is so much quieter and smoother than the DJIs. Lesson learned! Jack

    DJI Props

If you'd asked last week, I'd have said, "not to worry." But one of the 10" DJI props on my F450 broke in flight the other day, and I threw them all away and replaced them with Graupners. I've used APC blades on my hexa from day one. Now that "I've seen the light," I wouldn't risk my MCs...
