    Matts PVC T-QUAD

You certainly are. I've watched a lot of FPV videos; and that was, hands down, the best, most enjoyable to watch I've seen. Well done. You really have that sucker dialed-in. Jack

    Flying Question

My hexa is used primarily for shooting still photos, so I'm not so concerned about coordinated turns with it. I also have an F450 that I'm trying to use for video, so that's the craft I'm working on turns with forward movement. I think I'm just going to have to keep experimenting and...

    Flying Question

Yeah, you're probably right about the sim. Can you recommend one with realistic MC flight? Thanks. Jack

    Flying Question

Thanks, Steve. So I guess it's just technique. And I assume cyclic means elevator/aileron to us fixed-wing guys? My gains are about the same as yours and the CG is centered. Thanks for the info. I guess I just have to practice, practice, practice. Jack

    Flying Question

Probably an obvious answer, but I can't figure it out. So here goes... My flying experience is based on fixed-wing aircraft, both real & R/C. In forward flight, if I want to make a turn, I simply bank and pull back on the elevator. The plane rolls and makes a coordinated turn in the...

F550 with Avroto motors - weird proplem, help please!

Gotta believe something else is going on. My hexa with Avrotos flies fine on both 3S & 4S with APC 12x3.8SFs & 12x6Es. I settled on 4S & 12x6Es for more lifting power, but the other combinations worked fine. BTW, DJI 30A ESCs & Naza. Jack

Turkey system to pilot a f550 for AP

You seem to be addressing two separate problems: 1) losing sight of the craft, and 2) viewing what the camera sees. Unless I misunderstood... I have no idea how to keep from losing sight of the craft other than physically viewing it with your eyes. Perhaps and additional observer can help...

    Opinions on these images please

The biggest problem for me is none of the images are sharp; they all slightly blurry. I think #1 would have benefited from being taken earlier or later in the day when the shadows would have been longer. Similarly, earlier or later would have reduced the glare in #2. Finally, I think #3 would...

    good 12 inch prop recommendation?

First, let me categorically state I'm no prop expert. My knowledge comes from experience (R/C planes & MCs) and some research. Second, you should plug the appropriate information into eCalc (http://www.ecalc.ch/xcoptercalc_e.htm?ecalc) as a guide. Third, your calculation is "the maximum"...

    good 12 inch prop recommendation?

Very simply, SF stands for "Slow Flight;" E stands for "Electric." The electric props from APC are designed for higher maximum RPM, SF props are designed with a maximum RPM of 65,000/prop diameter in inches (e.g., for a 12" SF prop, the max. RPM should not exceed 5417). A 12" E prop, on the...

    Site Update

I notice that since the software update, the "NEW" box indicating new posts does not appear correctly when using Firefox (ver. 15.0.1) on my iMac. Instead of appearing to the left of the Forum Title, it shows up spread out below the title with the bottom of the box cropped off. Curiously it...

    good 12 inch prop recommendation?

You might consider the APC 12x6E props. I use them on my hexa with 2814-11S Avrotos. Jack

Prop choice - APC or change to Xoar (or any other rigid props)

You might consider the APC 12x6E props. They're stiffer than the 12x3.8SF design. I've used both on my hexa with 2814-11S Avrotos. I like the 12x6E props better---more lifting power. Jack

AP Most Common Focal Lengths - TV/AV/M Settings - Altitude

Not unlike ground-based photography, the focal length will most likely depend on how close to the subject you'll be (horizontally, not vertically unless you're going to be shooting mostly down) and how much of the surrounding area you want to capture. As a point of reference, I use a Nikon 1 V...
