    Naza loops and rolls.

Thanks Chris Getting up early isnt a problem but finding enough space to practice FPV is. I have a home built tricopter as well as the F450 and Im fine flying them both from the ground, but need some practice to get more confidence in FPV mode. Thanks for the rates settings. I fly ducted...

    Naza loops and rolls.

Very nice Chris. Struggling to get nice enough weather here in Sydney to do much flying of any kind but watching your video inspires me to keep going. Do you use Dual rates/expo for manual fying? if so what are youre settings?

    what does this?

The issue with losing signal as you go down the hill is simply an effect of using 5.8 GHz and no antenna will improve it beyond what youre getting. Dirt, rock, stone blocks and buildings will all attenuate the signal at 5.8 GHz. A few trees usually wont matter much (except perhaps at maximum...

    what does this?

Hi kloner. 5.8GHz is line of sight so it doesn't take much to reduce the signal. If the antenna is mounted under the Quad you'll need to make sure it's always above your receiver otherwise there'll be some shading. If you fly into a valley you might be in trouble Also the legs are carbon...

    Anyone have a 100% reliable 5.8Ghz video downlink ?

Hi Lance. The skew-planar wheel is the 4 element receiving antenna Ive mentioned that is best for reception. The cloverleaf is the 3 element version that is used for the transmitter. You'll need one of each. I think readymaderc sell them as a set but if youre building them or buying them...

    Anyone have a 100% reliable 5.8Ghz video downlink ?

The short ones can be mounted directly to the transmitter or receiver. Just mount the transmitter to the Quad with the connector facing directly up (or down) so the antenna is in the clear. The longer ones can be bend at right angles if your transmitter cant be mounted vertically. The main...

    Anyone have a 100% reliable 5.8Ghz video downlink ?

Ah yes -if you were using the original dipoles then you are correct. However you dont get as many issues with multipath reception using a cloverleaf, especially if you use the 4 element skew-planar version at the receiver which is particularly good at rejecting multipath interference. IBCrazy's...

    Anyone have a 100% reliable 5.8Ghz video downlink ?

Hi Andy The idea of the diversity box is to select the strongest signal from one of two antennas so there isnt much point in using two cloverleaf antennas at the receiver as they're both going to receive the same signal levels. Use the circular patch antenna and a 4 element cloverleaf...

Please post pictures of your F450 layout

My F450 running 4S and original 8x4.5 props with GoPro and a 5.8GHz 200mw FPV setup. I use a separate 3S pack for the transmitter. The Naza is mounted between the plates.

    Anyone have a 100% reliable 5.8Ghz video downlink ?

Thats often the case. The V antenna is a bent centre-fed dipole that gives a slightly better air-to-ground radiation pattern that a straight dipole. The construction is described by IBCrazy on RCGroups. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1159968

    Anyone have a 100% reliable 5.8Ghz video downlink ?

Hi Vortex. Your 14dB patch antenna is pretty high gain so its likely to be vertically polarized. I'm therefore guessing you're using a vertical dipole (rubber duck) on your model. With that sort of gain you're going to need a tracker because the beam width will be quite narrow. It should be...

    Anyone have a 100% reliable 5.8Ghz video downlink ?

Hi Bartman For dipoles, its probably better to keep the TX antenna vertical but angle the side of the receiving antenna towards the model to account for an altitude component. It shouldn't matter if the antenna is mounted above or below the model as long as its visible from the ground. As...

    Anyone have a 100% reliable 5.8Ghz video downlink ?

The 'rubber duck' antennas are dipoles which work best when the RX and TX antennas are both orientated in the same polarity (i.e both vertical or horizontal) and in line with each other. The Dipole signal projects outwards horizontally like a donut and the receiving antenna also receives within...

    New to Mulit Rotors

Hi jackmulti. Welcome to the Forum The motors I use on my home built Tricopter are the 2213N 800Kv from Hobby King and they've proved to be economical and reliable. Three motors will easily lift my 1.2 kg Tricopter with FPV gear using 10x5 props. I use them with 18 Amp Plush ESCs and...

    Gas powered multi, conceptual question

My experience with nitro motors is that unless they're perfectly tuned, they're a little unreliable at low revs. In fixed wing models they often cut out on approach leaving you with a dead stick landing. As long as you keep the idle revs well up you'd probably be OK though. Another thing is...

Question to New firmwire naza 1.4 (Date: 2012.02.03)

I usually fly in ATTI mode and I've never had a problem on decent. According to page 13 of the updated instructions that go with the latest firmware v1.04 (which I haven't installed yet): * In IMMEDIATE mode (in both MANUAL and ATTI settings) the motors will stop if the throttle is reduced...

NAZA ATTI Mode Forward Flight Questions

I found the same. Ran the 8" props with a 3S when I first built it and loved the responsiveness. After adding the GoPro and FPV gear I switched to the 10" props for more power but didn't like the mushy feel. I'm now back to the 8" props and a 4S and its nice and crisp again.

    Another Aussie - Hello

Hi Lifter. Welcome to the forum. I'm a fairly recent member too although I've been flying RC for many years. I'm in Sydney. Got onto Tricopters around August last year and now also have a quad. Sadly we're having a wet summer in Sydney so not as much flying happening as Id like. Hope your...
