LiPo Question: One cell doesn't fully charge

I recently bought a 3600 mAh 3S pack that had one unbalanced cell. On the charger the two outside cells would reach 4.20V but the inside cell only reached 3.95V. After checking with the supplier I was told the cell voltage difference wasnt large enough to warrant replacing and I should cycle it...

    450 flamewheel mods.

My first heli was a Hirobo MiniStar which I think was a copy of the cricket. It was a fixed pitch with an all Aluminium frame. I fitted an OS28H engine and Futaba 27MHz radio. It would have been around 1983 I expect. The same frame was also available in a semi scale Hughes 300 configuration. I...

    450 flamewheel mods.

In fact it will probably add to the yaw stability in Manual mode. We used to add tails to our helis back in the early 1980s when gyros were rare and expensive. The tail on my first heli was about the size of a table tennis bat and acted as a damper to yaw movements. It made a noticeable...

    Range check question

That's one of the advantages of the FrSky two way system. I only have to walk away in range test mode and the unit will beep once the signal starts to get low. Don't even need to move the sticks. The last range test gave me over 100 meters before I got the first beep.

    DJI Naza GPS Pricinig

There'll be a new version of the Naza Assistant but as far as I know, no-one who has been testing has needed to do any firmware changes on their Naza. I believe Tahoe Ed has tested one so maybe he can comment?

    DJI Naza GPS Pricinig

I believe the Wookong will also get additional features through a software upgrade and will be promoted for high end commercial applications while the Naza targets hobbyists and FPV fliers. If you're not into commercial filming and automated UAV functions then the Naza with GPS is all you need...

    DJI Naza GPS Pricinig

I'm holding off until I hear the all clear from testers in Australia. I know of a couple of guys who are testing both the WKM and Naza GPS's here, both of which have the problem. At this stage I have no idea if the problem can be fixed with a software update but I do know that those who are...

    DJI Naza GPS Pricinig

I'd hold your order if I was you. The Naza GPS doesn't work in Australia. DJI are working on it, but the initial release is already being shipped and won't work here. It appears to be the same issue as the Wookong GPS.

Multiple antenna on video downlink Tx ... Practical?

Not really. While it can be done in theory using additional hardware it's not practical on a quad especially at the low levels of power we use. Your best bet is to do what kloner and I have done. Mount your cloverleaf on a short mast so that it's above the frame. My mast is about 10cm long...

    FPV Goggles.... types and brands?

I have the Foxtech goggles and my friend has Fatshark so I've been able to try them both. For clarity I prefer my Foxtech but I think the Fatshark are a bit more comfortable to wear. I had to trim the rubber frame on the Foxtech for more comfort especially around my nose (no its a normal sized...

Frequency for best range of RC system

An alternative is add a FrSky 2.4GHz, 2 way system to your radio. You can buy an upgrade module for about $35 which will convert any radio with a PPM signal. Then simply buy a 2 way FrSky telemetry receiver (about $23 each) and get increased range 1.5 - 2 kms along with telemetry based RSSI...

DJI NAZA and DX8.... Do I really want to program fail safe in the DX8?

The Naza doesn't fail safe on its own unless you program it using a 3 position switch on your TX. If you don't program it and your RX loses signal, the Naza does whatever the fail safe in your RX tells it to do which is often center sticks and zero throttle (by default). You can program center...

    my new fpv rig

Here is one called Water Buoy and its from the UK but I'm sure there are a number of types available. This will lift up to 1kg so two of them should keep your quad floating. It triggers on immersion in water. http://www.water-buoy.com/

    my new fpv rig

Aha that's the secret. Once you've done it a few times you'd be more comfortable. For flotation you can buy small devices that attach to your quad that inflate in water a few seconds after immersion. You might need a couple if your quad is heavy. I think they're designed for boaties to...

    my new fpv rig

Sounds like fun. Would be good to have plenty of space to cruise around in. By the way, you're brave flying over water. I'm still a bit wary of flying over anything I couldnt recover my quad from if it dropped. I guess Im nervous about the cost if I lost it. I also have the RangeLink system...

    my new fpv rig

You're gonna need a bigger battery :) Looks very good though and I like your flexible antenna masts. Because the mast on mine is stiff, the cloverleaf tends to get out of shape when the F450 tips over so I might find some suitable material to copy your idea. I'm about to fit an FrSky system...

    Must have lost reception....

I have an FrSky 2.4GHz system with 2 way telemetry due to arrive any day for my F450. Quite a few of my FPV flyer friends are using them here in Australia. The receiver sends Telemetry data back to your TX module which beeps when your RX signal is getting low. Range is reported to be about twice...

Problem with Orange 7 channel RX and F450

I'm using an orange 6 channel receiver on my F450. The signal wire (the lightest colour) goes to the top (the top is where you can see the bind light).
