    Alexmos 32bit

Unfortunately your attached image or video did not come thru. Also before and after each activation of auto-tuning your system always check that the motor pole counts are correct. The latest firmware tends to include pole count and motor direction each time during auto-tuning and will frequently...

Count the number of coils in the motor then add 2 or just count the magnets, or look up the yaw motor model number on the internet and it should be stated in the specs. Most are 14 but Alexmos firmware consistently calculates it to be 22 poles which is wrong.

Maybe this will help. 1) Double check the number of poles configured for the yaw motor. 2) Move the pan motor wires away from possible sources of emi such as battery or battery regulator. Switching/digital volt regulators produce emi as well as possible voltage supply ripples. Make sure the BG...

What is the difference between airframes?

Good to know..... I will hold on to my Cinestar Octo for a while yet and the large minivan needed to move it around. It does fly very smoothly.

What is the difference between airframes?

IMHO - I get the impression that the flat Octo is on it's way out based on the following: 1) Stability algorithms in the Hex now enable the Hex to land safely even with the loss of one motor, esc or prop. 2) Larger Hex motors, props enable a large Hex to lift as much as an earlier flat Octo. 3)...

R_Lefebvre, Thanks for the good info. Notch filtering is a great idea, more specific versus low pass filtering, but I believe it would still have to be matched to the dynamics of each specific airframe which remains a major variable in the hobby world. We use configurable Active filtering in the...

These IMUs contain at least 3 accelerometers, one per axis. In the event that acceleration/deceleration magnitude/force in any axis exceeds the sensor +- range limits, that data becomes invalid and has to be ignored by Kalman filtering. If not ignored, the averaging results in a false zero...

Please correct me if I am wrong but only the FC output controls are confined to normal MR rotational speeds in the 3 axes. Whereas with respect to the sensor inputs, on the basis of a typical 9DOF IMU using conventional Kalman filtering, the accelerometers in particular have to deal with much...

True, the NAZA and the A2 are to be hard mounted. But during the course of S900 development the anti-vibration module was implemented to deal with some WKM IMU related issues. So technically the IMU is being dampened externally via the anti-vibration plate assembly.

    Representation for Commercial sUAS

Saw a picture once of Werner Von Braun in Germany as a teenager holding a home built rocket along with some rocket club friends. Even Hitler recognized, to some degree, the value of youth and their potential future contribution via hobby level activity! Granted he later became USA's versus...

You are correct. The challenge is to dampen and/or isolate in 3 axes.... but also to do it with all conceivable frequencies that might occur. The best I have seen so far and worked well for me was the DJI anti-vibe kit as used on the S-800 to resolve issues with the WKM. It uses a clever...

So far, the best anti-vibration/isolation system I have seen IMHO - is the DJI one used for the WKM on the older S800. It is shock absorbers in a clever "floating/suspended" mechanical assembly that both dampens and isolates. http://www.aerialtechnology.com/shop/dji-s800-vibration-absorber-kit/

I don't think it would be possible to filter out a "dangerous" frequency, i.e., add a notch filter, because filtering it out entirely would cause the FC to fly the MR blind at that particular frequency.

Multi esc board vs individual esc's discussion.

Seems Mikrokopter was the first or one of the first to move in this direction of a single ESC/PDB board, taking it out of the free market competition cycle. But keep in mind that Mikrokopter has since implemented some advance features not available in the other individual ESCs. This is the...

    Multicopter motor maintenance?

There is a lot of good information in this topic in various hobby forums. But also some good information from some of the motor bearing manufacturers, e.g., Boca's web site. IMHO - except for ceramic that do not use lubricant, bearings are packed with powder or fluid lubricant during...
