I am not sure never got that info. All i know is how the armokopter FC does it. You fly over the POI flick a switch, flick a second one to start the routine and If I remember correctly can set the desired distance in the GS or what ever Armokopter has.

How DJI implements it no clue. I hope in a more dynamic way etc.

One thing is for sure though they will have to add some more channels finally at least visual ones for S-bus and PPM users. Since there wouldn't be enough at the moment for POI and this dedicated RTH switch they implement if you sill want to control you Camera or Use IOC etc.

So people with traditional PWM in will have to choose which features they want to use, since there arent any ports on the MC left.

It does a 5 metre circle around the POI, right? Fixed at 5m? So do you have to judge that you're 2.5m from the POI before flicking the switch?

I hope that the 5 meters is the minimum distance the craft with orbit around the point of interest. I would like to know if you can adjust the radius of it's orbit.

According to Sidney, 5m is the minimum and 500m is the maximum

Boris,
I certainly hope very much that the DJI engineer finds a more clever way that does not require more virtual or physical channels.
Instead these modes could be included on the same channel as IOC (X2), (X3) or Control Mode (U). Simply by dividing the pulse width into more bands, each one with their significance. I mean, for both of these channels we already use three states, like Manual, Atti, GPS or orientation Normal, Course Lock and Home Lock.
By using transmitter mixer it is easy to program more states into the same channel. Helicommand uses five states and ArduCopter six.

I am using Spectrum / JR gear, and I will cry blood if the new features would require S-bus or PPM sum... :upset:

Snurre i also hope they think of something for users not using PPM or S-bus. Lets see i have the fear though that they don't want to make it too "demanding" for their customers, mixers etc. new areas for faulty configuration and DJI gets blamed etc.

I agree. The easy of assembly is what DJI is known for. It would be nice if there were accessible advanced settings that could be adjusted, but like you said, they would take blame for incorrect settings by the consumer.

Align's APS system (Competitor to WK-H) uses a single channel to switch all these functions, including setting waypoints and initiate auto waypoint flights. The way they do it is to use a 3 step switch on your radio, and certain sequence will activate certain function as shown in the table.

Just had a very quick glance over the instruction pdf and it looks like DJI have implemented new functions like POI in a logical way.

Ideally you should have a couple of three position switches on your radio, but the new features will work with a two position switch too.

So the worries about needing sbus are unfounded.

The fact that POI would seem to work on a basic wkm set-up is a real boon if you're not bothered about buying the data link.

That said on first glance the 'chinglish' makes some of it less than obvious, so if anyone has the time to test POI out and explain in simple english then that would help.

Finally, is there an idiots explanation of "course lock" and "home lock"?

Here's a video on course lock mode:

And one on home lock mode:

I'm happy that these features don't require a data link. Who want to spend time at the playing with a computer?

So happy. :) Now... I need to hook my wkm up, pray, configure, and test these new features. :)

Yeah, I'm definitely going to throw my APC's on to dial in the new stuff instead of keeping my graupners on since I'm coming up from 5.02. Learned the hard way on that one :shame: Looks like it's ready to download now.

Hi johsch, I see you are on 5.02 at the moment, I upgraded my HL hexa to 5.06 a while ago but had big problems with ESC overheating and causing one to shut down resulting in a crash. I'm now reluctant to upgrade to 5.10 (especially as it’s an "evaluation" release), I would be grateful if you do a successful upgrade to let me know your findings.

Regards

Andy

5.10, no problems, seems to have improved hold, quite gusty in the uk today. Gimbal movement/control much improved.
