Wobbly descent

Hey guys

My quad flies and hovers great BUT...when I chop power back to about 40% for a steady descent, it wants to start wobbling.

This stops as soon as I stop the descent and go into either hover or climb mode.
Seems to be more pronounced with the 10x5 props than with the "new" 8x4.5 DJI props.
It is not so bad that I'm afraid I'll lose control, but it sure ruins an otherwise nice video.
If I descend s-l-o-w-l-y, the quad will stay steady.
BTW...I only fly in Atti mode.
Any thoughts?

yep........

the bigger motors tend to do it less, but that's a quad. Don't worry, if your gains are any where near close, it wont flip over or get weird.

when you do an ap type film, you gotta fly really slow and steady, film at double frame rates so you can slow it down even more.

In fpv it's just like landing in a jet liner, bounce around a bit, part of the gig.

Isn't that problem on descent pretty characteristic of multirotors in general and just a result of turbulence caused by descending into the aircraft's own prop wash?

If you are coming coming straight down, try a bit of a glide path. Keeps your copter out of the dirty air.

Bernd, Bison is right. What you're experiencing is to be expected. Just imagine the downdraught from four rotors and the turbulence those rotors cause beneath your quad. Well when you descend straight down, you're descending into and through very turbulent air and whilst the NAZA is good at stabilisation, it can't quite cope with the amount of buffeting the quad experiences. As was mentioned, try to descend with forward travel which will allow you to descend through less turbulent air.
