WKM with DX6i - Calibration?

I am trying to use my DX6i with the DJI WKM controller. This is a new build so I am novice with WKM. Everything seems fine until I get to the calibration point and it says to use the control switch and quickly go from switch 1 to switch 3. I have setup my flaps switch for Manual and GPS mode. When I switch between those modes quickly I don't get the solid blue led. My receiver is hooked up to a Futaba S-Bus converter (so I will be able to use the the camera gimbals on my octo).

Any suggestions - is it a case of not having enough channels or not having a 3 mode switch on the DX6i? I have been holding off on getting a new transmitter until some new options become available in the next couple of months.

...oh one other question when I arm the system the motors immediately start spinning even though I haven't given it throttle (I don't have props on) but this is a bit disconcerting - is that normal and should I be concerned?

You have to switch through all three modes; Manual, ATTI, and GPS, 10 times. You need a three position switch to do the calibration. When you arm the motors it is normal to have the motors spool up.

so... if I can't do the calibration because I don't have a 3 position switch, is that a no go?

That is my understanding. Borrow someone's Dx7 or above and bind to do the calibration then go back to your Dx6.

Try this for your 2 position switch:
Flick back and forth with the switch 10 times, but finish with the switch in the M position,
then wait a second to see if it enters calibration mode.

Hi mbsteed. DaveM's suggestion did work for me. Initialy I only had one 2 possition switch set up for GPS/ Manual. And that worked. Later I mixed in a second switch to give me all three settings but as I said only one switch at first. Not sure if that really makes a difference but worth a try.

If you mean when you have done the Combination Stcik Command (CSC) Page 17 Then this is normal. And if you dont move the throtle stick they should stop.

Back to your Compass calibration, The system should be disconected from the assistant software before flicking the switch I am sure thats what your doing but just thought I would mention it.

I will give it another go but I am pretty sure I did it very carefully and followed all instructions. All I got was flashing red lights. How quickly do you switch back and forth - as fast as you can do it or do you pause a second between?

Okay.... I tried it again and it worked this time. The trick is to flip the switch very quickly, I was doing that too slowly. Thanks for the advise.

Crinson, Also just curious how you mixed in another switch to give you more options - I am currently using the Flap switch. - I am not an expert with the DX6i and the manual is not always useful.

Quite quickly and your first click is One. On your tenth click you should be in MANUAL. Pause and the blue light should come on.

As to setting up the DX6i see this video. The principal is the same. I have since moved to a DX8 and AR8000 works a treat
