the biggest difference and even with hero$ is the small sensor makes somewhat lack luster dynamic range.... when you got a screen full of anything, you can't see anything in teh shaddows and that's what a gh3-4 starts to do but why they use epics in professional production.... like that chevy spot, the chrysler spot in the vid i posted..... when you look at the solar farm or the nike stuff, that's gh4 and while not as powerful as the red, it stands out to me.

All the new hero 4 spots i've seen didn't do much for the dynamic range but the stuff shot at night looks better than alot of what i've seen from them in the past. Am i getting one you bet, but m i gonna try to sell footage from from it, not a chance.

heres some examples of trying to be creative with light and such using a hero3+....

some of this one is 2 man with a backbone mod....

I've been following your vids for years.....back when you strapped a keychain camera to a pusher plank.....you're quality has always been better than the average. Now that you're doing this for a living (or planned retirement...lol)....I can see the reason marketing the GoPro stuff could be limited........But if I ever jump up to GoPro, Steve, your the man I'd take lessons from........!

my hero stuff is mostly from TBS Discovery PRO, the 2 man part was on a hexacrfter 1100 with u7... i was breaking it in and the free gig was a good place to stretch it's legs

Pizzano, I fought getting that first keychain cam tooth and nail 5-6 years ago and only really understood real cameras recently hanging around AC's... I've been liquidating everything i have including my truck and came across 3 of them keychain cameras over the weekend..... doubt they work and lucky the lipos in em didn't pop. that cab gets really hot being black and living in eastern so cal.

Well, you've always had a great eye for detail......you're attention to quality, perseverance and occasional risk taking (monetairally and method) are to be commended......that is why I follow you around on the web.......!

That lx100 looks like a lot of bang for the buck. What is a gopro sensor? 1/3"? For $900 this may be the step up I'm looking for.
Why type of gimbal would you use with this and why is the z15 $3000 and others $500? Are they that much better?

for the most part cause it works and the $500 ones dont.... theres other options at that price level that also work......

Zens are camera/lens specific and i haven't seen one for that camera yet. it has to be compatible with the hdmi output, balance has to be close, etc.

You're looking at 393g for the camera with battery; so I don't think you're gonna need a z15. Check out Grouse House Technologies, Jakub gimbals at quadframes and TPpacks TP100.

I just purchased the TPacks TP100 with hopes of flying the LX100 on my 800 DIY hex. I've been flying the Zenmuse H3-3D with 6s to get comfortable with the size, I also fly a TBS Disco Pro with Aerial MOB arms. I figure this new model will be my next step towards the GH4 or whatever is the next step a couple years from now. The investment for under 1k is worth taking IMO, at least for me. The new GoPro Hero4 will add another camera to the arsenal and will replace one of my Hero3's. I will probably add the new Phobotic Centerpiece will also likely find its way into the TP100 gimbal. I'll post some video once I get it processed from earlier today.
