I'm a software engineer and running a few online magazines in Turkey about photography and technology. I've been addicted to MR since April 2011. My goal is to fly without crashing :)

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
what a group we've got here!!! i'm humbled by everyone's amazingness. :)

i'm a mechanical engineer by degree but working as an airline pilot for Continental Airlines (now United). i'm a first officer on the Boeing 777 and typically fly long haul international routes. we park at terminal 4 at Heathrow (sorry gunter!).

been flying RC since i was 15 and flew control line before that. just passed my 1 year anniversary since ordering my first MK kit and it's been absolutely crazy since that first box arrived.

two kids and a gazillion things going on keep me busy. we've also got a budding RC truck racing team so we're hoping to compete in the spring or maybe get in on the local indoor racing season in the coming months. dad's races? didn't know they had that. maybe i won't just be fixing and fetching like i thought i would. :)

regards,
bart

Wow Bart, a pilot! I have often thought of doing a few training flights in a heli, but never got around to it.

When you're next at Heathrow for a decent amount of time, drop me a line and we can go for a fly somewhere. Bring along a small multi in your bag ;) I live about 45 minutes drive from the airport.

Gunter.

So I work for a bike manufacturer as a tech trainer/demo guy/bike fitter/team mechanic (yea, what ever needs doing) it takes me all over the country and sometime abroad meting all sorts of people and riding the best bikes money can buy in the most amazing places. It was at one of our events where I first got up close to an MK hexa, ZAxis's one to be precise.

Since then I've been hooked and hope to do a bit of my own AV, only me and mates riding local trails. Before that though, I've got to tune my pilot skills....

self employed camera operator & editor. Before that was a webmaster when internet became popular.
Started to get hooked with RC and multirotors after seeing GH2 on Octocopter clip on vimeo.. i knew i HAD to get into this even if i had no experience before feb 2011.
I am now totally addicted, and to me its more than a hobby, its a way to get extra income and have a different view. Every second i have free from editing videos, i am at workbench or in the field flying, but i always fly with videos in mind. i never take off without an onboard camera... 90% of time i film motorsport in italian race tracks, and my copter always amazes people. Last event at Monza , grandstands were full, and when my copter left the ground for the first time , whole grandstand behind me was applauding and cheering... i was actually quite nervous and sh**ing myself... Need to learn to fly fpv now the season is off, and i need to build a foldable Y6 because i need to move on the run, and my 64cm X8 is a p.i.t.a to transport...

I am the other part of Z Axis. So I guess i'm the one who brings the petrol and matches to the bonfire of cash.
Full time builder and part time film editor/ motion graphics thanks to 4 years at Uni not going to waste.
I'm having great fun flying my multi whenever i get chance to and always looking for new challenges. Currently in year 2 of a full cottage restoration so time has to be split.
I started out racings RC cars at a local club and always wanted a go with a heli but never got around to it. After a number of years as a pro level MTB rider I dropped into the filming side (much like Dave) Always looking to be a few steps ahead we started looking into AV and thanks to a small clip from dedicam.tv the hexa proved that more is better so we took the plunge and haven't looked back since. Must say a massive thanks to this forum which has been totally invaluable to us and the people we met at the UK meet a couple of months ago.
onwards and upwards.

This is actually my first post here so I guess this is sort of an introduction. I'm a senior software engineer at Microsoft. Just past my 15 year mark there last week. I've been into RC (cars, planes, boats, helis) for most of my life. Started working in a local hobby shop when I was 12 helping to keep the place clean and doing customer builds (usually just cars). My passion and came and went over the years and several years ago I decided to get into electric Helis and picked up an ECO8. After tossing more money than I care to talk about at the heli I finally hung it up and moved on. I've been watching the multirotor scene for a while now and finally told my wife I can't stand it anymore and that's what I want for Christmas. No more shirts or ties or socks or wallets, I want a new toy. What really draws me to the multicopters is the possibility for amazing arial photography and video. Even though I'm a software engineer, my degree is in photography and I have been shooting professionally for over 10 years. I shot adventure sports for a number of years and then switched to dog portraits about 6 years ago. I've carved out a great little high-end niche market that helps bring in all the extra money I need to have fun. I'm not planning on using my quad for photos of dogs however, but I still am somewhat active in the adventure sports world and I have some great ideas I'd like to explore. For Christmas I'm starting out easy with a Gaui 500x and WKM combo. This certainly won't be my final platform for real photography. For that I have my sights on the Cinestar 6 but that will have to wait a year or so while I build up my flying skills and confidence (and save my pennies).

Anyway, thanks for a great forum. I look forward to starting this new journey during my first build later on this month.

Cheers!

Rob

Im a Retail Manager, Got hooked into RC Helis 4 years ago when my wife was given a little coaxial micro heli...it last 4days before I busted it up...the rest is history, I had my 1st Tamiya Build when I was 10 with my dad...never thought Id be interested in getting in the air, Hobbyking has been key to me getting into the hobby due to being great value for money, So yeah its been a sweet few years in the Air and about 12 months into multirotors :)

I'm a photographer with a studio in Battersea in South West London. Most of my work is a mix of Architectural and Reproduction Photography of paintings and sculpture. I specialise in making panoramas and am waiting eagerly to make aerial panoramas. My main interest is in flying a camera, so the appearance of the DJI system has begun to get me interested. At the moment I'm practicing with a little E-Flight contra-Heli that insists on flying into things, though it's becoming tamer. When I finally adopt a camera ship, I'll be able to fly in the field next door to my home in West Sussex.

So far I'm blown away by the handling skill that everyone has. It really is rather daunting...

Old Thread, but I'm active duty USAF. I'm a machinist/welder by trade, but am currently a Production Superintendent which basically means I'm responsible for 450'ish maintainers and all the maintenance support that we provide to our 2 Fighter Squadrons and 48 F-22's.

I travel mostly around europe and sometimes around the world, I'm a field specialist special services, for a major oilfield services company.
My job is to get a kind of remote tool down the wells and collect samples of clean "what ever fluid is in the rock formation".
And use a downhole spectrometer to ID the fluid before collecting.
I also maintain it, and it has plenty of Orings and seals all over the place, this thing is an engineering nightmare if you think about the pressure and temperature conditions it has to withstand. So usually during work I smell bad and look awfull, and sometimes the rigs are worse than a ork's ***.

I am hooked up on anything as long as it has some technology in it.

My official title is technical customer support specialist field operations refractive group! Which is corporate speak for field service engineer I work on Femto second pulsed eyesight correction lasers. Not many posts here but I thought I'd introduce myself. I work in a busy private practice as owner Optometrist for a major UK based Multiple, although my practice is in Australia. I have been intro RC since age 7 when I had a little gas engine control line thingy, it made me sick. I have been buying a trying and learning to fly Multirotors for 3 years now, its a big job learning all the stuff involved and I only just about think I understand it somewhat now. I have been flying full size GA aircraft since 17 when I signed up for a short career in the RAF. I still fly when cash permits but Cirrus SR22 is AUS is 500 bucks an hour !!! makes a new WKM FC seem cheap...

My main passion for the last 12 years has been skydiving and base jumping. My passion for photography has been growing since strapping a canon 20D and sigma wide angle zoom to my head in 2004. ( sore neck ) I now use a nex5N modded with electronic shutter release by gethypoxic.com for skydiving purposes. Video is now a mixture of gopro 2 's , Sony CX110 and soon to be PJ -710 V BOSS Sony camera. All these fit onto a camera helmet. My main goal over the next few months is to mix my passion for Multirotors and BAse jumping. I intend to take my newly purchased S800 Z15 combo to Europe and film my friends jumping off 1400 M high walls. Should be fun..Below are some pics , first one is me recently in my new Vampire 3 Red suit.. learning to fly it before taking it off the cliffs.. the next are all shots I took between 2004 and 2006 using my head mounted Canon 20D.

Question for YakJock : DO you know anything about the new Presbyopia correction techniques using the lasers ? They are experimenting down here a little but I am reluctant to refer patients for such a new procedure ( sorry off topic )

Jetbootz you base jumping guys are brilliant. I hate heights, I struggle badly with them so watching what you guys do just fills me with awe. It must be an amazing experience. I follow a couple of base jumpers on vimeo. Pure brilliance.
