Hi Andre,
Couple of updates.
Temperatures on the clockwise are 25-30C and CCW 45-50C. Fixed some small motor alignment issues and temps evened up significantly. Looks like it was principally a motor alignment issue.
Tried out some props. Base props have been APC 13x6.5 This copter has been VERY VERY sensitive to balance. Spinning the larger props helped stop the shakes if the balance wasn't perfect and by perfect I mean, taking off the gimbal and balancing the hex from a single point plumb line, balancing the gimbal with all components and then balancing the camera in tray removing tilt belts and roll servo (AV200/360) and then re-balancing the gimbal with the camera and then assembling it all back together again. It could probably do with a bit less gain but I'm heavy (w the 5D2/28mmIS) and it's often windy here (15-20mph). Any imperfection it shakes and then the Skyline feeds more shake into it creating small to medium rapid shakes. Balance balance balance
So yesterday, missed the balance by a fraction. Wind was 16mph avg.
Base props APC 13x6.5 created very small buzzy type shakes along a single axis when panning. Tried the 12x4.5 XOAR Beechwood again, rapid shakes all axis - unflyable. (No clue what the issue is with these, all have balanced tips and hubs, but was thinking that perhaps the extra prop speed and the gains...) Then we put on the XOAR 12x4.5 Carbon Fiber. WOW!!!! NO vibration. Sucked up the minor imbalance. Sounded wicked cool. Flew very hooked up. Motor temps by hand were barely warm. Consumption is running 591mah per minute giving me similar flight times as the 13's. (Flying an Exotic6000mah)
So...are the XOAR carbons worth a 120 bucks a pair. Oh yes. Do I wish their 40 bucks a pair beechwoods would play ball to compare?? yup. Carbons for the win at the moment. Will be trying these against the APC 12x5 SloFlyer next time out.
