We made the front page!

Hey gang,

I might have mentioned a little while back that my wife and I were interviewed by the Baltimore Sun newspaper about our aerial photos. We've been printing and showing our work now and have caught a nice bit of local recognition for it. The Sun article finally came out and what was supposed to be a small web only article turned into a front page (of the arts & entertainment section) of the sunday edition!

The writer had a couple of small things that I would have changed, but over all I think it's great. We got 3/4 color page on the front and then another 1/2 page on the inside. You can find a copy of the web version at the link below, and I've included a few snap shots of the print edition.

Nice job! We need more people like you to give us positive notice in public instead of these guys that go out green and make mistakes that give us all a bad name. Congrats!

Thanks, everyone! We were a little worried since you never truly know what they are going to print till it's out. The reporter could have taken a much different route, but I'm glad she didn't. We have been working with some area schools to try and teach the young ones about this technology... how it works, how it came to be, what can be done with it etc. I think that bought us a few mercy points from the reporter. ;-)

something anybody in this position needs to consider. usually if you don't know if a publisher is ruthless or not just ask around cause it is a very important part of being put in the bright light or the dark light.

TBS owner gave an interview to a austrailia tv host and the whole thing got flipped over from what they told them it was about, edited out only the bad use of words they'd slip up on and made an hour long documenty about why you gotta be worried about drones. Honestly, it was horrible. with team blacksheep all over the middle of it. straifing the golden gate bridge, rubin along the statue of liberty. supposedly he shoulda known going in and shouldn't have given the interview. i couldn't of agreed more

Very good point, kloner. To be honest though I did have a pretty good idea that she was going to put a positive spin on it, but like you said.. you can never be 100% sure. This reporter has done a few stories in relation to the advertising firm I work for, so we were at least familiar with each others work. I didn't set it up through the agency though, so it was still a toss up, but a risk I felt confident enough to take. We just didn't give her anything bad to write about or edit down.
