Thrashing the Naza F450

It was a balmy 60 degrees here in New England yesterday, shirt sleeve weather in January! I took the oportunity to get out to the flying field to do a few test flights of the newly WKM converted Droidworx AD6 and also brought along 4 of my little quads to play around with. Nothing crashed and nothing wound up in the brook this time so it was a pretty good day overall. The last flight of the day I tie wrapped the GoPro to the front of the Flamewheel 450 again and went out to toss it around. It was a bit windy by then and I had the gain turned up just a bit too much so I just shut off ATTI mode and flew in manual. Didn't have as much room as I would have liked as the field was pretty busy, had a Trex 600N flying on the right and a Trex 700E on the left, so I kept the 450 in fairly close and just thrashed it until the LED started alerting low battery...

Looks like you had fun Ken, I had a similar day though the weather not so good. a brief respite from the winds today so got the F450/Naza out for a proper hack about in the field behind my house.
I was left at home with my 3 yr old son while the wife and daughter went shopping. he's pretty bored of watching daddy flying alicopters by now. I had to coerce him to come to the field by promising to take Woody (from Toy Story) for a fly. so my first chance to really open it up and it had a 2 ft talking Woody doll hanging by the arms from the Gopro mount, otherwise I might have some video. next up Buzz Lightyear.
I'm Absolutely chuffed to bits with the Naza, feels really locked in as they say. Really quite agile even in Atti and awesome in manual although I think I'll dial my rates down. Got some FPV as well, that alt hold really helps me relax a bit as I generally cr*p myself doing FPV! Wind picked up a little later in the day and I found the unit handled the wind really well, doesnt even feel it in manual. Mine has turned out quite heavy for the size if it, I reckon that helps in the wind.
Yeah really impressed with the Naza, looking fwd to getting a WKM for the X650V8/(now a V4 after robbing 4 motors for the F450).

Ken, a proper thrashing. Well done. The Naza is a blast to fly either in Manual or ATTI. Mine is set up for FPV now, but I am transferring my WKM with Data Link over to the Kit frame. I want something durable in case I crash it testing Click and Go. I got my 10" Graupners today when I got home. I think I will wait a while before I put them on.

where are you guys getting your graupners/motors/esc in the states from? I really dont want to support HobbyKing.

I get my stuff for the larger hex at MontoRC as well but they dont really have the smaller motors for the F450 and the normal APC thin props or the smaller escs that Maytech makes. In the end I decided to go with the RTF F450 even though I got a free one with the WKM. SO now I have 2 Flame wheels since I gave up on finding a store that has what I need in stock in the states.

I got APC slow fly 10" props. There is NO way I am using those Xaircraft look alike props that come in the kit. Never NEVER again will I touch anything that has a hub that flimsy. I dont care if they show them driving over it with a truck and bending them in half. Not worth it. The APC's have been solid props on my large hex. I like them more than the 11x5 Graupners since I am running 3s and the lift to Kv seems better suited. But I have never built a smaller quad so this is like starting all over again.

I just ordered some 8 x 5 and 9 x 5 Graupners to use on the F450 since it seems to be overpropped with the 10 inch Graupner and it vibrates way too much with the props that came in the kit. I think the 8 inch might be just what the 450 needs to wake it up a bit, I'll find out as soon as they arrive from the UK.
