Does anyone have experience with this setup? I am getting a slight light flicker in the footage. Looking for suggestions on cam settings or setup tweaks. Using the 16mm pancake lens with all manual cam settings. Using 1080 60p.

I dont have that exact setup but with the NEX5 -16mm and Zen - it sure prefers all manual settings. Manual focus then set SHutter speed somewhere between 1/15 - 1/80 then adjust ISO and Aperture accordingly. Hope that helps and welcome tot he forum.

yep, yep..... the cam came with a plastic lens hood but them settings is everything..... forget the exact name but you need the flexible focus part turned on

theres also a new firmware out to help make the focus part work better....

I believe that Guru Kloner is referring to DMF. NEX5 has AF MF and DMF - direct manual focus - best results seem to be with MF. They way i kind of understand the DMF is sim to AF it will lock on then you can overide if you choose. Not positive about that. Am positive MF = best results

Have you had the same issue?

I did have an issue but with a heli. which is far more prone to this problem when shooting into the light. You must keep the blade shadow off the front element and not just shield the angle of view. Inside the hood, it must be matt black or it will bounce the light. We use Barn Doors for most situations on the ground but always a shade is used.

Turned out to be a problem with the Sony 16mm lens. I think the iris is vibrating causing the flicker. The 18-55 works fine. Thanks for all the input.

I had the same problem with my GH2 if I use F8 or more closed, is due to the vibration that affects the shutter curtains.
