Well don't know if anyone on this forum can beat this error?? Flying my x650 today and all is going great until I went up about 200 ft and caught some wind and away she went higher and farther away and no mater what I tried it just keeped going until it was a little dot and poof it was gone. I have no clue how many feet or miles it was when I lost sight. Or just how far the range is for my 11x 2.4 JR tx and R921x RX with nothing blocking line of sight. Anyone ever see a 1000.00 bill fly??? Been out all afternoon looking and talking with folks in the general area I beleive it is and now out putting up flyers. There is alot of inaccesable area and tall trees too. I fear she is gone for good. Bad part is I am a cancer pateint and had 2/3 of rt lung taken out and then chemo and 28 days of radiation treatments and can't walk more than 100 ft without getting winded (gasping for air) I saved for 6 months + for the x650 It has made me sick to let it get away from me like this. I sure wish I had the go home feature now... Oh well Just thought would post 1 last time unless a miracle happens and it turns up.Needle in a hay stack odds though. Been great help here at multirotor Thanks everyone.. moslow

moslow,
any chance you belong to a local flying club that can assist with your search? maybe there's someone reading this that is close enough to give you a hand? where are you located in Washington State?

No I don't belong to the local fly club yet. I have some friends that have dirt bikes and they are going out this weekend to search and a few on foot. I live on the olympic penninsula joust south of Port Townsend wa. We are right on the Straits of Jaun De Fuca I'm only a couple hundred yards off the beach of P.Townsend bay. Funny part is I think it went down on P.T. airport property, I'm right on the flight path at about 1 mile as the crow flys. I'm just not sure as to how far i could see in ft or miles the quad. it was a tiny dot and then disappeared not blocked by anything just to small and thats when I turned tx off. I have the 11xJR with the 921x receiver with extra antenna. Don't no for sure what the range would be in clear line of sight?

moslow, you might find it's closer than you think. i'm not sure what shutting the tx would do but if it cut motor power, it may have come right down. it wouldn't have to be too far for it to diappear from sight. a big rc plane would be a little different. good luck tomorrow. hope they come back with something

Nope Droider, Been out everyday except the last 2 its been pourin down buckets here in WA. Had a guy on the other forum belittle me because of my posts of being sick and not finding my 650, and i said i was a little jealous seeing the stack of boxs that xair was sending to him and some others on that forum but that they deserved it for all there help to other flyers with info and trouble shooting. He rattled off how I must be just looking for a freebie and sympathy and etc. and only had 10 posts. I will tell you what I can't remember when I got so mad and hurt about some idiot talkin sht about me. I really snapped told him xair could thank him for me quiting the forum and not buying another to replace the flyaway. Anyway I'm done with that soap opera forum. 2 guys there stood up for me and 1 even sent me a couple of arms and skids and broken landing gear which can be fixed.quad master was his handle a real nice guy. Anyway I went nutz and ordered a fully loaded hexa xl from mikrokopter us. a couple days ago for 3600.00. That wasn't an easy desicion, but you only go around once in this life so i'm goin aroud flyin....lol The only reason i was able to do that was I won 3200.00 at the casino on 75.00 investment....wooooowhoooo

Good on you me laddo.. post the pics up when get your new Hexa.. Sometimes its best to just not retaliate to plebs as thats what they seem to thrive on.. I know its hard some times but its best to just walk away.. anyhow there'll be none of that malarky going o. here coz now IM A MODORATOR... ;)

Keep us up to date when you get your new bird and if you need any help just shout. I am sure all of us are pleased at your win.... grrrr.

congrats on the casino win moslow. fate works in strange ways.
do yourself a favor with the new hexa, buy a diversity board for your satellites and run at least two of them. the diversity board is about $50 and the size of a quarter so it's easy to work into the set-up. who did you buy the rig from? did you get the ARF package?
good luck with it.

Heh Bartman, I ordered it from mikrokopter us. and yes ARF. I just looked at the diversity boards at same site and 70.00 each. Should I buy 2? I have a new JR X11 tx and
JR R1221 2.4 ghz DSM2 multilink rx which has 1 internal and 3 external receivers Also looking into setting up ground station. A bit confusing for this newbe, so many things to consider. Would like to find case with monitor and room for all the other goodies or a complete setup. Won another 1500.00 tonight so i can buy somemore goodies to make sure i can keep track of this girl...lol thanks jamie

It would be worth the money to buy a locator beacon and receiver like the one buzzed has posted about at mk.us. It's a few hundred bucks, but you WILL find the bird as long as the beacon isn't in pieces.

MKs can fly away also. I didn't believe it last week but then I saw a log that showed 44 seconds of high power during a signal loss. That's not suppose to happen. I plan to test that failure before I do any more MK flying.

crash,
you're making me feel like i've been lucky so far to still have my MK in one piece. maybe I should start saving and reading the data (where's my credit card?). ignorance is bliss, as they say.

just one. use at least two satellites and follow the directions for mounting the wires from the diversity to the FC as they are different than just mounting a single satellite directly to the FC.
$70? I paid $58 and they were less than that in the batch before. He's not afraid to shake out a buck, eh?

Yea, seems pretty pricey for an open source/open hardware design that uses about $15 in parts.

Yes it does especially when you consider the guy that designed and builds them charges 25 Euros for the assembled board which works out to $35, what I paid for the diversity board currently on my AD-6. I'm all for free enterprise and making a profit, but a 100% markup on an open source project is a bit over the top IMO. I was going to buy another until I saw the price, now I have all documentation and code from the German site, I'll build my own before I pay that asking price.

ken,
hook me up with the info and we'll build a couple of them here and do a build thread. i've been getting a hankering to do a ver 2.1 FC board without the ARF option so the diversity would be a good lead in to that.
do you think i'd need a pencil point tip for my soldering iron or would the stock blade tip be ok? i've got the digital weller rig, 60 watts i think.

I was actually thinking of having a small run of the bare boards made and then just posting the parts list so people that are up to it can make their own. Not sure how feasible that is since the chip does have to be programmed and that takes more than just basic soldering skills. I know it can be built without the etched board but again the sticky part is programming the chip, not sure if the programmer I have here can do it or not, I'll have to do a little more investigation when I have time.

The alternative is to just email the man in Germany and buy direct from him, I'm sure if we were to do a group buy we would at the very least save a bunch on shipping. Let me check into it a bit more and then we'll see if it's something anyone can do without having to be an electronics engineer.

Ken

P.S. here's the link to the SVN folder with all the info you need for parts, the board, code, etc... http://66.163.168.225/babelfish/tra...oftware%2F&#Ab8c493824ce8bb4b33a3923f94dfa6b5
