Mikrokopter Pressure Sensor

Hello to all
This may be an old question but here it is again its my understanding that a piece foam has to be attached to the pressure sensor of the MK FC I saw a picture somewhere, is this right? what is it for?

I used a circle of double stick tape to hold down the foam. It has worked for a year and a half.
