Good morning,
it's been a long time I didn't update some infos here but I have very good news
Some time ago I have been interested by cloverleaf and pinwheel antenna for video transmission cf:
As the results were not a revolution, I have asked to a specialized company to make some SWR tests on the antenna I baught and I have been very surprised to see that the antenna was centered on 5.3 Ghz instead of 5.8 giving a SWR of 1.8 (see at the end of the message for small explanation on SWR).
Some antennas tested by the company have shown a SWR of 2 to 4 leading to a dangerous operation on transmiters. I have so decided not to sell these antennas because the SWR wasn't garanteed.
Few weeks ago, a french guy, Terrybuild, have build a diy SWRmeter and claimed that now his pinwheel were garanteed with an SWR of less than 1.5. I have mandated again the same company with professionnal equipment to see the reality of this
I have received some antennas ,pick up two and send it to the company (IP FRANCE) the results were... interetsing (at least ) the SWR was between 1.25 and 1.18 (cf the charts here)
So now I can garantee you that the pinwheel 5.8 Ghz have a very good SWR ^^
These antennas are the only one with a garanteed SWR<1.5 (as far as I know )
SWR SMALL EXPLANATIONS: the SWR measure the quality of an antenna (in very short...) the closer you are from 1, the better it is. with an SWR of 1.5 you have 96% of the power that is radiated by the antenna. This mean that if you use a 100mw transmiter, 96mw of the power is transmited.
You can find these antennas here
feel free to contact me for other informations
Best regards,
Cédric
