I needed a project;
something to make.
I only had two ‘copters
for heaven’s sake.
I went to the forums;
read every post.
Looking for something
that interested me most.
Looking everywhere
while surfin’ the ‘Net.
Maybe FPV;
haven’t been there yet.
Looking thru goggles
while buzzin’ the sky.
Seemed just about right
for a guy with one eye.
Decided on a quad,
but it needed a brain.
Something sophisticated;
not a wallet drain.
I’d been flying Naza,
but CC seemed right
The trouble was
no CC3Ds in sight.
Then the boards went to production
and I was relieved.
The board I was after
was finally conceived.
October 18th
finally came around.
In front of my computer,
I sat right down.
The hour came;
the window was open.
To place my order,
boy was I hopin’.
But the servers all crashed;
I couldn’t get through.
Oh my God,
what was I to do.
I waited and waited
banging the keys.
The demand had
brought the thing to its knees.
Then I got through.
My order got placed.
A great big grin
all over my face.
The hard part was done,
or so I thought.
Just a few more parts
needed to be bought.
Just a few motors;
guess I need four.
Some ESCs, props, and a frame;
I should need little more.
The other stuff
I already had.
Hey, this build
wouldn’t be bad.
But I needed a frame,
one I wouldn’t have to mod.
Then I discovered
the OV3RQUAD.
Similar to some;
different from many.
The good news was,
it didn’t cost a pretty penny.
So I ordered the frame,
the ESCs, too.
And threw in some props;
as I may need a few.
I had all I needed,
I could begin the construction.
What I didn’t realize,
it was the start of destruction.
My frame needed arms;
the board had no case.
The two panels I got
were simply a base.
Those parts got ordered;
now I was done.
Who am I kidding?
Just beginning was the fun.
I didn’t have standoffs,
or the right size screws.
I started drinking more;
I was gettin’ the blues.
Wait...I can’t connect the motors;
I don’t have the right plugs.
Now I’m starting to think,
I may need some drugs.
Now I had all the parts
my build to begin.
Then I realized
I committed a sin.
I had ordered the ESCs
from a store in Hong Kong.
At the time I was thinking,
what could go wrong?
After ten days,
the ESCs are still there.
Not to worry,
they’re coming by air.
What? A storm?
At the plane’s next stop?
I simply can’t stand it.
I think I’m gonna drop.
So here I sit
with nothing to do.
My most-needed parts
somewhere in the queue.
I’ll try to be patient,
and be of good cheer.
I guess all I can do
is have another beer.
Cheers,
Jack
