New guy, old question

Hello from the great (wet) northwest! Brand new multi enthusiast, DJI Quad still in box. I've been flying RC for years, FPV for one year, and now this. My question is, where can I find decent props? I would like to replace stock DJIs before I even start, based on reports of thrown blades (or is that an overblown scenario?). Anyway, looking for APC electric 10 x 4.5, or 4.7, or 5? I will be using 3S 3300 batt, stock motors (for now).

Welcome! Good idea not using the stock props. Try here;

As for pitch, it mignt be best to try a set of 3.8 and 4.5's.
The idea here is to get it to hover at mid stick. 4.5's might hover lower, if so, they can make a good set to use in a pinch.

While you are at it, take a look at your motor bullet connectors, if they have the ring on them, cut them off and solder on some standard style bullet connectors. These rings seem to screw up people big time all the time, causing all kinds of strange things to happen. Just ditch them and save some asprin's.

If you have any issues, or questions, just come on back and feel free to ask.
Even if you don't have any issues/questions come on back and tell us what you think of her!

I was waiting to see if someone would answer the last posting, from kloner, about whether to use slo fly or electric (APCs). Thanks to all who responded with links/suggestions re: where to get APCs.

I have been using slow flys on 550 with much success and until pretty recently on the AD6 as well :) For the record - i have tried lots of different setups too - xoar and graup but i always somehow ended back up with the slow flys.

Thanks, that's good to know! I was concerned that the RPM would be excessive (S3 w/920KV stock motor), as APC limit is 65000/10. I guess I will just not peg the throttle??

Cool, and I ordered a few slo flyers. We'll have to compare notes. I ordered the slow flyers from Amazon; where did you order thins from?
