More bad news, Droider's shop fire

I regret to have to report that our good friend, supportive moderator, and all around jolly chap Droider suffered a total loss of his workshop last night. His shop was in his detached garage so the house wasn't touched but everything associated with Dave's exploits over the course of the last 30 or so years was lost in the fire. He also suffered burns on his hands while trying to grab a few heli's on the way out.

Insurance will partially cover the loss and he's more in shock than anything at the moment but please keep Dave in your thoughts this evening as he sorts through the situation and works to get back on his feet.

If you read this Dave, hang in there and we're here if you need any help or assistance.

Having known Dave for a good while now this is a really shocking thing to happen. Dave has put so much effort into creating his fleet and business it is just the wrong for it to happen to him.
He has been a source of help and reassurance over the years and I hope he'll be back in action as soon as possible.

So ... to Dave ... hang in there and if you need any help, just shout.

This is terrible news!!! So sorry to hear about this Dave. And he is so meticulous in his builds, and so very helpful here on the forum, and in person.
I had the pleasure of meeting Droider at 2012 multirotorforums meet uk, and he is a gentleman, and a truly decent bloke. He is so passionate about his interests, he will bounce back, better than ever.

A similar thing happened to someone else on another forum, that was lipo related.. Its sickening to hear when these things happen, it makes you think twice about your own property and whether it is ok? At least Dave and his family are safe and hope things get back to normal soon for him...

It saddens e to hear of such a loss. You can get back the funds or the pieces, but you can never get back that time.
Was it a Lipo related incident? I'm starting to become very nervous about Lipo's, even ones left unattended with a storage charge on them. I think its time I get a few ammo boxes and actually store all Lipos inside when not in use and for transport.

Ive spoke with Dave about this and he is not yet entirely sure of the cause but he did say no lipos where on charge at the time , the only thing was possibly a laptop charger plugged in but not connected to a laptop.
There was a mention from the fire brigade it could possibly be even something like linseed putty that can self ignite but this is only from an initial chat with Dave so nothing is factual at the moment sorry guys.
Dave will post more info I am sure when he back on here , But it is nice to read so many kind words and support left on this thread for Droider.

Terrible to hear about this....it's bad if your garage is on fire (thank god the house is ok), but if business and your "tools" going goes up in flames is a real tragedy. Hopefully he is not badly hurt. I am sure there is enough members here on the forum to give him any kind of support to get him back on the feet and make him smile one day again....

Really sorry to hear this news Dave, hope you're not badly hurt. The heli's and the tools etc can be replaced (come on, you love building these things anyway!).

Hope you manage to get everything sorted through insurance. You know where we are if you need anything.
