Hey guys, getting my first quadcopter build going, and would love to run a gopro hd hero 2 with live feed to a laptop (not fpv), and was wondering if anybody knew a budget friendly way to do it. At the moment I am looking to get it done on the cheap, and i understand you get what you pay for. This isn't going to be a long term thing for me, i just want to get my feet wet, and i don't plan on doing any long range flying just yet, still need to get it flying in general first. Any help would be appreciated.

that is still an fpv system. assuming your flying 2.4 radios, look at something like this. playing with stuff not made for rc could have alot of interference involved that may or may not work = money not well spent. this stuff has resale value so if you just hate it, your out with some of your money back or you can upgrade to a set of rhcp antennas and fly off a couple thousand feet with spektrum or a couple miles with a LRS with nothing but cloverleafs, 10+ miles with a patch antenna

none of the current fpv gear will do HD. it'll look high quality, but is SD

this is what it comes through a monitor like with those two parts

the info on the screen is the On Screen Display part, seperatley sold

to get that into a laptop takes a capture card like this

but it adds delay between what you see and what your doing. a monitor will go real time with no noticeable latency

Thanks for the replies guys. I should have specified, I'm not looking for HD at all, in fact i could really care less as long as i can generally see whats being taped (the camera footage will be hd when i go replay it, assuming i have it set on hd). I'm just looking for more of a budget friendly trans/receive setup that works. As far as a monitor goes, i had thought about it, the only problem being i wouldn't be anywhere near a plug.

there was a thread that showed a hd downlink for professional photography, was in the thousands

that monitor above is 22" widescreen, $180, runs off 12 volt, in that video clip was running off a 3s lipo. you can fly on mars if ya got a pocket full of lipos.

We use a 7 inch Lilliput field monitor with a 5.8Ghz Rx/Tx link. Has a built in battery that will last several hours and the screen can be seen in bright sunlight conditions. Very portable and comes with a tripod screw so tou can mount it on a tripod or elsewhere.
Do a Google search for them, in the UK they're about £150.
