Has anybody got any video shot with a GH3 on the new Zenmuse yet? Specifically I would like to know if anyone has any video shot in MOV please? the reason I am asking for this is that the Z15 manual states to shoot in 1080i and MOV is progressive not interlaced, does it make a difference can you shoot in MOV with the Zenmuse?

I don't have a GH3, i do have a GH2 though, however..anything in the Zenmuse manual regarding how to shoot proper video, throw it out the window.
I believe I read it once, and it even states you need to be shooting in aperture priority mode.
Are you having any problems with your videos?
The first thing you need to do is get the fastest sd card you can get your hands on.
You should be able to use All Intra compression in MOV mode but this has 72Mbps output.
You need a really fast SD card best ones are usually Lexar class 10 minimum, don't skimp on them, buy the best you can.

Need to know a bit more about the settings you are using at the moment, also what you are using to edit with, FCP or Adobe, Adobe PP will be able to handle it much better straight out of the camera.
You should always choose progressive over interlaced if you can.
I am considering getting the GH3 myself, and will be able to help more if I do, but I am just going from knowledge without actually using the camera.
Hopefully someone who uses it will be able to also provide more information.

Set the camera into manual, set shutter speed to 1/48 and leave it there, and adjust your aperture and ISO to suit.

Cheers for the reply Quinton, I am waiting on my GH3 to be delivered atm but have the Zen. I have fast cards for the GH3 I will use the 64GB sandisk extreme pro sdxc http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-SDS...sr=8-4&keywords=32gb+sandisk+extreme+pro+sdxc
I have Adobe creative cloud but also have Vegas pro 12 which i prefer to use as it is much easier, Adobe gives me headaches:)
Cheers Quinton!

Sounds good.

Not sure how much extra weight the zenmuse will allow you before its thrown out of balance, but if you are using the lens that they suggest the OLYMPUS M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12mm f2.0 have a look for a few 46mm nd filters.
This will allow you to kepp the shutter speed at 1/50 1/100, this will give you much better video.
Any higher will give you a stacatto look which you don't want, you want a nice motion blur.
I'm used to the Lexar cards, as I've had a few problems with the Sandisk ones, but you should be OK with that one.

I have a NEX Zen and use the 20mm f2.8 instead of the 16mm so I know they are capable of adjustment so a filter should be ok on the GH3 with some adjustment may call for a bit of modification to the lens holder but should be doable, what brand of filter would you recommend?

No Idea TBH for the GH3
I use canon lenses, and the Lee Filters and B&W are the best for me, but its one of the reasons I bought a C100 as it has built in filters.
If I go for a GH3 I will have to do a bit of digging.
I don't like variable ND filters full stop.
Hopefully though someone that flys a GH3 will be able to give their input, as at the moment I don't have any experience with it and othing beats experience.

We have the GH3 Zenmuse. Unfortunately, it is not possible to put a filter on
the 12mm M.Zuiko. Even with rebalancing the Gimbal with filter, the motors
are buzzing.

How do you get the GH2 to record progressive at 72Mbps? Is it not the case that once you plug in the HDMI to monitor your video the camera reverts to default interlaced?

I didn't say that, I was talking about the GH3 recording at that.
The GH2 records 24mb/s in 24p mode, and 17mb/s in 25p mode as far as I am aware.
Yes the HDMI out is interlaced, the recording on the card should be progressive though.

I use a GH2 with driftwood hack 77Mbps but I can tell you that as soon as you plug the HDMI in the camera will switch to it's native recording settings with interlaced footage. You might select your higher bit rate and progressive but it wont just output I frames via HDMI it will also record them, just interigate your files and see and as far as I'm aware there is no fix for this and I'm sure it's the same with GH3, GH3 users please confirm.

I don't use a gimbal yet, but was unaware of this.
Thanks for the heads up, that is quite a serious problem!

I'm sure there are many on this form that are not aware of it and it makes a GH2 near useless when monitoring HDMI out, the only solution (if you can call it that) is to use another small FPV camera pointed at the GH2 screen, no good with a Zen. This is why I'm looking at BMPC (BlackMagic pocket camera) as it does not have this problem and I can still use my MFT glass, I use AV200 gimbal at the moment this would work but would like to move on to Zen but this doesn't support BMPC. Stuck in a bad place I feel!

This does not sound good :( what the hell are dji playing at.... Does anyone know if the kopterworx Hdmi can allow progressive recording? If so maybe that can be wired into the zen and ditch the dji Hdmi?

As far as I'm aware it doesn't matter what HDMI you use it's the camera that switches to interlace as soon as an HDMI cable is plugged in

Why are you sure it's the same with the GH3? This is not a DJI-specific issue, it's a GH2 issue. From what I've read, the GH3 outputs hi-res via HDMI:"I'm testing the Lumix GH3's clean HDMI output together with PIX 220, which I believe is one of the cheapest high quality ProRes/DNxHD video capture setup as of today (and probably until we can get the BlackMagic Pocket Camera). GH3's output is only 4:2:0 8bit, but still Pix does a very good job improving the already decent in camera 70mbps codec." Steve
