fpv and dslr equipment for accurate aerial shots

I would want to do this: fly with copter (and in the future plane for longer distances) and shoot accurate photos along the way. So I should be able to fly and same time see what my dslr shoots. This would require then two fpv cameras? One pointing forward, one same direction as my dslr. Is it possible to do this?

Or can I get video out from dslr and shoot with it?

Is there some way to use zoom objectives?

For now I was planning big diy hexa or octa and canon d5 Mk II.

it is very difficult to go full fpv flight and look through a gimbal....... the best way to set it up would be either two cams with 2 monitors or a video switch so you can go to the dslr view, frame, shoot, go back to the fpv camera and roll on....

I was just trying to explain ways to do it as I imagined it would be somehow possible, so what do you think is best and what kind of setup is needed? OSD, Cams, tx/rx, etc.. I've been thinking the same thing kloner stated that it'll be hard to shoot and fly same time.

To clear this up I want to know is what kind of setup you would use for taking pictures of specific targets. To open this up a little, photos would be for finding targets on electric grid that need maintenance.

At the moment I building my first multirotor (quadro) for getting first touch of this world.

Socal blur I don't know the value of strereo vision for fpv flying, though seeing depth must improve accuracy. More important what the video points out is superiority of digital transmitting, as in quality and reliability. Since interest for this kind of hardware is now growing it wont be long before someone starts making it in affordable price.

somewhere on this one matches up with the next one, that's how it's normaly done. Stereo or not, if the gimbal stabilizes the footage your watching you can't tell how far your pushing forward, leaning, etc. tried it alot, reminds me of being drunk behind the wheel, delayed reaction, swervy, up and down,,, it's hard as hell

those little sony handycams cameras are perfect for this, you can control the zoom, focus, start stop, just not sure about photos but you could always pull photos from hd footy. the latest ones have 5 axis gyros, think panasonic has one with 5 axis,,, there those dedicated handy cam looking things like this. The trick would be to find one that you can also get a simple rc control lance cable to run the camera through

if this is high power transmission lines, reconsider the venture.

Thanks. Yeah I mend power transmission lines. The idea is doing real helis job with uav would save pile of money. Biggest obstacle at the moment is that new uav restrictions planned to be set later this year in my country. After it you can't fly as long as your sight is but only 500m from person who is controlling the device. There will be possibility to get special permits so I'm keeping my eyes open.

As groving business there is some many uses and aplications for aerial photography, I think experiencing is definitely worth time.

you will experience alot of line related interference that just doesn't make uav's a good choice to work with..... sorry, maybe some of these guys have some envelopes figured out, but for the most part even my long range systems bug out around that EF

UAVs for PowerLines

Considering the high cost of copper these days, maybe UAV fleets are in order to keep an eye on the following situations....

I assume though that higher voltage and/or HV transmission lines don't use copper.

And then there are the wodden cross beam canoing issues to stay ahead of.

Yup, same reason you have two eyes - depth perception. Try driving your car with one eye closed... sure you can train yourself to judge distances but it's easier with two eyes. So yes, it can help with accuracy.

i take it the lines are live, right? they make so much emf i've seen story after story on here about people having trouble around it.... we approached sdg&e about working on there system and even they said no way in hell on the sunrise power link.... the local high voltage lines, no problem.

with regular cameras once your used to them is super easy to see with.... i can go get 4 feet away from somebody, hold it there, and control any direction from a half mile away,,,circle em, go over em, whatever..... takes practice

I think once the stereo version versions become as easy to use as something like Fatsharks, single camera FPV will go the way of the dinosaur. But that may be a long time off... we'll see.
