interesting how most talk of the DJI has been about spinning smaller props faster. With this S800 out, the tables have clearly turned in their thinking. It's larger than I thought it would be and has huge props!

Boris, check this video out.

$8500 for the S800/Z15 combo is a little out of line. I think that includes the Ruling but I may be wrong.

You could be right there, it also mentions the price of the ruling as $5000 so that all adds up to pretty close to what you would expect a full package deal to cost. Still WAY more $ than I'm willing to spend for hobby use!

Allegedly there will be new firmware soon that fixes the issues with large multis, I'll be happy with just that at this point. If it works it will be the last piece of the puzzle for me, I've got the CS6 dialed in as good as it can possibly get, both with the hardware and software settings and I have to say it's really smooth with the latest incarnation. Still have some jumpiness in the wind but nothing near what it was before and this with 12 x 6 props.

Robert, rerazor, said that he was going to start a blog about the NAB. Since he was in the video, I am hoping that he has a lot to contribute. It kills me that NAB is in the city that I live in and I can't even go. Really frustrating.

Edit: Robert has posted a link to his blog on this forum. Lots of good pictures.

I notice that the gimbal is not working in proportional stick mode - thats great news . i.e. move the camera, release the stick and it takes up it's new heading and stays there. They did their homework as that is the way full size pro systems work. That response speed was also very good. I'm impressed with that.

Still not sure about the S800, it was moving around more than I thought it would indoors. 6" is a lot of pitch.

I don't know. I have not flown in an meeting center before. It is unfortunate that they could not have flown outside with GPS lock. I am still not sure how the controller works. One stick for the S800 and the other for the gimbal. How does that work???

I realize it's still a prototype but DJI is using one of those crappy 500mw 5.8Ghz TX's for the Ruling video link. I was hoping they had some kind of new video transmission system given the original promo literature claims of HD video and a 10km range. Guess I should wait until the final release before passing judgement but if the Ruling does in fact end up using that 5.8Ghz link it's going to make that thing a non-starter.

Looking forward to hearing more news from AC minded folks at the show. Seems like a few new cameras that could be well suited for AC are debuting. The new baby Phantom, Sony FS700, Cannon C500 and 1DC, Blackmagic's cine camera and some small super cameras developed with James Cameron that could make for a perfect, small 3D rig (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/james-cameron-camera-nab-2012-marina-trench-312311). Let's see more pictures, video and first hand impressions!

Ok, I thought that they were duplexing the video on top of the controller at 900mHz. 5.8gHz will not give you 5k without an enhanced Rx antenna. Since this is a prototype things are subject to change. So I will keep waiting.

Thanks.

I am really interested in the prices from PH for its Hero Product line. I still stick to my assumptions that they are running on the same technology, thus the prices will not differ a lot.

Boris

I really do hope DJI will not come out and say that the new firmware is only for owners of S800 or Zenmuse serial numbers.

As for PH gimbals I am sure they will be at least 25% cheaper because DJI has paid for the creation of the moulds and prototypes so the ingenious Chinese manufacturer will just 'borrow' them.

Lets also see were the prices settle in.

After pre order prices.

S800 1600 $
Z15 3500 $
WKM 1139 $
-----------------
$6239

These mentioned 8500$ either mean that they are eventually going to go down with the s800 and z15 prices or the ruling is around 2000 $, or the person making the statement was nervous and forgot about one or the other component.

(edit) ah sorry don't think the 8500 include the ruling at all.

He did say 8500 with radio etc. I guess thats a ready built one, I just took an order to build one ready to go at 9000 euros. Ruling is another 5k
