First and hopefully last FLY AWAY with Naza v2

Did you check the solar activity for your area? How much time between flights? This is unusual behavior. Also check all your connections. After 6 months solder joints can fail, connectors come loose, you have the picture. I had a F550 with a WKM that banked to the left, rose 60 feet and became inverted and crashed. I checked everything and could never figure what happened. I have flown that controller multiple times on my S800 with a new GPS, cracked the Rx, and never had an issue. Sometimes we never know about the ghosts in the machines.

The ghost in the machine is called DJI !

Go and fly many platforms over many years and tell me that unexplained issues do not crop up in any of them. I have. These are complex systems in non-controlled environments. Interference both on the craft and external are ever-present. How do you point to just one thing, in this case DJI and say it is all their fault. Not logical in my opinion.

I have been flying RC airplanes since 1983, RC helicopters since 1995, and multirotors for the last 2+ years. I posted about a similar problem I had with the new A2: http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?13900-!!!DJI-A2-Stop-dont-buy-one-yet!!!!/page9
DJI problems keep popping up all over the place, and they don't even have the decency to respond to users. I can't speak for other people, but in my case, I'm 100% sure it was a malfunction of the DJI equipment. ABSOLUTELY no doubt about it. This "fly-away" problem has shown up with different DJI equipment, namely NAZA, NAZA V2, Phantom, WKM, A2, etc. I have a lot of experience building/flying and I'm an extremely careful flier. I think DJI has been putting out a lot of their products without really testing them thoroughly. And YES, I do think I have enough knowledge/experience with RC to categorically say that my accident was caused due to a DJI problem, and also think that censrd's was too.

Javier, There are a small percentage of failures. All products have that. In my experience, most crashes are caused by user error. Not all, but most. With your experience I would think that you would agree. If it is a DJI problem, have you contacted the dealer and if you got no satisfaction there have you escalated the issue to DJI? They have offices in China, Germany and the US.

Ed, I contacted the dealer and he told me to contact DJI. I even sent the iOSD log to them. In the past, I have never had a response from them to any questions, and I really don't think this is going to be the exception.
I do agree with you that many crashes are caused by user error, and with multirotors probably a large percentage of them, for different reasons. However, when you pay $1500 for a flight controller, to be used on a machine worth several thousands of dollars, assuming the manufacturer's claims are true, you expect it to work as advertised, AT LEAST under normal circumstances, and as long as you follow the manufacturer's specifications. To be fair, I should say that I have been using a WKM on a SkyJib8 for over a year now and I have never had any issues with it. I also have a NAZA and a NAZA V2 which have been working fine.

Easy? You call that easy?
Hopefully although i suspect the motor was damaged whilst it was spinning like a mad man when up in the tree. Of course there is no way to find out for sure. I've looked over the flight log IOSD file but I'm a complete noob with the data so no idea what I'm looking for that would be out of the norm, its all just wiggly lines to me. But I found your info regarding what "control" the gps over the FC very informative and more in line to the way I assumed / thought it would behave, thus the solar flare concept totally threw me.

Yeah, sorry about that! That's the nature of the forum I guess, we're easily sidetracked!

Javier send me the flight log and I will take a look at it and see if I can assist. If not, I know someone that can. Please included your set up including the firmware that you were using and a photo of the set up. That would help a lot.
