F330 with a GoPro?

Dave,
Thanks for the welcome. I've learned a lot from this forum in the past week. I'm based near Atlanta, Georgia USA.

I'm a producer and editor for a show on NBC Sports. We shoot in remote locations, so it'd be nice to have a smaller copter that we could fly a GoPro with.

Dave,
Thanks for the welcome. I've learned a lot from this forum in the past week. I'm based near Atlanta, Georgia USA.

I'm a producer and editor for a show on NBC Sports. We shoot in remote locations, so it'd be nice to have a smaller copter that we could fly a GoPro with.

We built up a F330 last week. It uses the same motors and 8" props as the F450 or F550. The esc's are 18amps. Its a VERY small frame. 11" motor to motor. It would be perfect for traveling. The only issue I see is in the wind it gets thrown around a little.

I'll put some weight on it and log some amp draws if you want.

Note: 8" props are the largest that will fit.

DJIUSA,

Since I plan to purchase from you, do you have the F330 kits in stock?

As for logging the amp draws, would you be testing that to see if it is pushing the 18amp ESC's too hard, or for figuring out the right battery? (I'm new to this.)

Yes, I will have some of the F330 kits.

I log amps to see the draw with some weight (i.e. like a mount with GoPro). Figure out flight times etc. Lipo will just be a 3s 2200-2600mah in size I'm sure.

I guess it all comes down to the actual size your max is for traveling. Just a little bit bigger the F450 w/ the new TP GoPro mounts we will carry starting next week is a great combo.

Feel free to email me if you want Robert @ DJIUSA .com (or call) and we can discuss in more detail your exact requirements.

Plus, you can take me along to these remote areas and I'll bring all kinds of multis and Helis. :livid: I use to work for RacerX shooting the Pro Outdoor MX series shooting aerial Panos.

Robert,

Thanks for your help. I'll give you a call in the next few weeks to discuss further and place an order. You and your company have gotten some favorable reviews on this site and others.

Where can I find more info about the "TP GoPro mounts" that you will sell?

Hi Benjamin --

I'm still in the process of updating my website, but the hope is that it will be ready-to-go in a few days. There are two versions of the GoPro gimbal/mount that will be available, one that is tailored to fit the the F450 quad, mounted on the front in an "inline" fashion, and another that hangs underneath an integrated set of landing gear on the new F550 hex. Both are 2-axis, belt driven gimbals, and both use full-size, high-speed, high resolution 12-bit digital servos that are specially programmed to have a full 180 degrees of motion, and to have the deadband space "tuned" to the WK-M/Naza's gimbal outputs.

The gimbals are actually identical, for both variants, and use the same mounting plate/battery tray. The roll axis assembly simply mounts on the front, for the F450, and mounts underneath in the middle, on the F550 hex setup.

The video below is a demo of the hex setup, which I just finished tuning.

I'll post something similar with the F450 version, in the next few days, along with some new flight videos.

Gary, I really like the gimbal! What ballpark are you shooting for cost wise?

The TP450-GP, which is the F450 GoPro gimbal/mount will be $375. This includes the specially programmed servos, and will be mostly assembled. We break it down to major assemblies, for easier shipping. The TP550-GP is the F550 hex version, and it will be $475, the difference mainly being the custom landing gear with skids.

There will also be the TP550-NX version which has a yoke sized to fit a Sony NEX-5N/7, a Panasonic GH2 or a Canon T2i/550D, that will be $500.

All will be available starting this week at my site, TPpacks.com, and via Robert's DJIUSA site.

Please Note DJI Has Informed us the Screw Kits have too long a Scew Size in the 330Kits. Dealers are not supposed to sell the 330Kits until we get the proper Screw Kit from DJI.

They have released the F330 to dealers as far as I know because I have a large consignment of them here , but the screws that attach the motors are slightly too long this can be resolved by using a small washer so the screws dont go too far into the motor , I have managed to build a few kits up using smaller motor screws until DJI send me the replacement screw packs .

I stand corrected. :) They did ship kits to dealers last week. We just have two samples but I think there are more coming with the F550 order this week.

I'll take some quick iPhone pics of the f450 and f330. Its very small. Fun for indoor stuff.

Anyways, GaryG might have a little mount in the works he tells me that will carry a GoPro. I still think the F450 with the ability to swing 10" props will be a better platform. Its not that much larger. Will see, will test them all.

F550 is my favorite. Just fly's great.
