DX8/WKM failsafe set-up video

Hope this might be of use to those of you using a DX8

This clip shows how to set-up the failsafe function, so in the event of radio communication loss, the wkm will enter 'return to home' mode.

I've done a short clip showing how to set-up the mix so a two position switch can be used to trigger 'return to home', but i'll see if this one is of any use before spamming that one to the forum.

Dave, here's the other clip showing how the mix is set-up. This is supposed to be used to activate 'return to home' when ever it's required - not just in a failsafe situation.

Do you not require any throttle in the mix when using the 2 way switch to activate failsafe ?

I always set mine just below half throttle to be on safe side , but yes 10% or more is fine .

in the first clip, which is failsafe, throttle is set to just below half way.

the second clip just deals with setting up the mix for using rth during normal flight, in which case throttle would be at or above 50% anyway…

but feel free to chip in if i've made an obvious error.

Generally speaking yes you will have some throttle when you hit the failsafe mix button .
But to be on the safe side you can set a throttle value in the Throttle Cut menu , It is default at 0% but if you wind it up you will see the throttle slider in the wookong assistant moving across and also activating failsafe with the flick of a switch .
Assign the Throttle cut SW to whatever you have used to select failsafe manually so in your case David Gear 1 this means when gear switch is flicked it will put in some throttle and also push it into failsafe.
Hope this helps .

p.s I will try and upload a short video shortly

thanks geoff,

so just to confirm, i keep the 'mix 1' i've already got, on that two position switch, but;

i adjust the throttle cut setting and have that activate on the same switch…

that switch would then be performing two functions - 'throttle cut' and 'mix1'

Yes that is how I have done it keep original mix but throttle cut is activated by same switch so in your case Gear Pos 1

i don't have a futaba radio so unfortunately i can't help you, but as a rule of thumb when you set you a mix 'most' interfaces will have an obvious setting which lets you choose how the mix is activated and which switch you want to assign it to.

The spektrum interface reveals the options to some settings once you've changed them from the default 'inhibit'.

best thing to do is play around with the radio while the wkm is hooked up to the assistant app. - you can then see if/when stuff is working.
