DX7 or DX8 What would you get?

Hi all,

Looking at the DX7 I see that's where your allowed to choose what mode you want 1,2,3, or 4. I think mode 4 would be cool for FPV, am I wrong on this?

The DX8 is $50.00 more then the DX7, is the $50.00 more worth it?

Thanks,
Deke

That 8th channel could come in handy. DX8 has backlit display.

I prefer the futaba 8fg super, but if I had to choose between the two you mentioned, I'd go DX8.

For multi, fu8ap is perfect. If you fly primarily srh, dx7 is a great radio. I own both.

Futaba can be a little hard to understand the manual, but it's excellent.

Flying multi's, you'll soon discover the need for more and more chanels, plus the s-bus is the cats dangles!

JR9403, had both the Dx8 and Dx7, neither hold a candle to the 9503 especially with the Lipo vs NiCm. I have not had the Futaba but have friends that love them. For feel alone, Graupner Mx20.

I have DX8 and had no issues with F550 and wookong-m easy setup lots of config trims. For 50 more I would go DX8.

If you also want to fly single rotor helis, DX8 is not a bad choice since on many FBL Systems you only have to hook 2 satellites to the stabi and get away without the need for an dedicated receiver:

BTW....something like the Thundertiger GT5 I would wish to be avalible as FlightControl for Multirotors....

Don't discount a Futaba 9C with spektrum module in your search as it works great with the naza/wookong. Mine is controlling a wookong with gimble and camera tilt, switching the radio off activates failsafe return as long as you set it up which is peasy.

The cost! I paid £150 s.h. and it came with nice tx case and the nice radio stand fastened to the back. For that you get 8 channels, a quality radio and head tracker compatible should you ever want to go that route

Thanks all for the input.

I saw the 8J on the Futuba site, and the price, even lower then a DX7.

Is anyone using the 8J for multicopters?

Thanks

i am, love it. Was gonna mention if you ever wanted to add a LRS systems, stay the heck away from all that spektrum stuff. it'll drive ya nutts till ya sell it and get the futaba

i.php

It also fires up sbus with a naza, single wire connection and has twice the range the spektrum does out of the box. Just follow the directions on how to layout the antennas

this was a flight with it on 2.4
easy couple thousand feet but a super tight link, not one glitch

Have a look here about different "modes": http://www.rc-airplane-world.com/rc-transmitter-modes.html

Mode 1 is mostly used in Europe and Mode 2 is used a lot in Amerika....Mode3 + Mode 4 are rather exotic. If you fly a few other crafts with that Remote, I would choose a Mode which is mostly used in the area you are living.
The Spektrum is very handy in some regards, but as cloner said: nothing beats a Futaba in performance and reliability....I personally got the Futaba FX-40 and would not change it for anything....full stop.
....but still feel symphaty for the Spektrum Satellit dingi for the use in Single Rotor Helis.

I have a brand new DX8 for sale if you are interested. It has the 2s lipo battery as well. I needed a 9 channel radio so didn't use it. Never used....$300,- + shipping.

For feel and ergonomics, i don't think you can beat the DX8. I've had a bunch of radios and of all of them the DX8 is the one i'm most fond of.

However, if i was buying now - which i would be if i had the coin - i'd be buying a Futaba 12FG.

Doing my research

Kloner this maybe a dumb question but I am still learning about all the different ins and outs of the multirotor world. I was curious if you bought the heli or air model and what reciever would you use for the Futaba 8J I am looking at an F550 with naza setup, using all DJI stuff.
