Besteady One Combo just purchased

The Besteady UK web shop just opened today, and I bit the bullet and purchased the combo at 4 mins past midday:).
Just wondering if anyone else will be looking at getting one, as the more users that have one the more help that will be out there.
I sent them 3 emails without any reply, so I phoned them this morning, apparently it will be shipping 2nd week of November the first batch, and the 2nd one in December.
Do hope their email customer service will improve, as it almost put me off the sale.

I was looking at this kit just last week and sent them an email asking if they had a UK distributor, 6 days later and I'm still waiting for an answer, not good PR. do you have the link to UK dist? are you using the rig on a MR or just the hand held setup? Keep us updated with results when you get a chance.

Their UK webshop opened today at midday (no resellers, direct)
http://www.besteady.pro/shop/

I bought the combo, as on their fb page it says it would also come with the storage case if ordered.
Im really interested in their phone app also, that can help set it up, I will be using it on a MR but will also find uses for it hand held.
I did ask why they didnt have any videos of it on a MR but they said they do have loads of vids, but hadnt time to put them up lately.
Their background is MR and said thats the easy bit, if you can get it working well by hand, you can have it really well working on a MR

I have been watching it for months now, so just went for it, as I want to be able to fly a camera of my choice, and not have to buy another camera/and single lens to suit a gimbal.

There's nothing more I hate than companies that dont answer emails, as I am in the online trade, and feel its the most important thing to deal with, so I called them and gave off a bit, but had a good chat over the phone nonetheless, which eased my mind a bit.

Also the weight for the MR on its own is 1040 grams which isn't so bad.

iceman,

Hope you were watching "ITV Tales From Northumberland" tonight, with Robson Greene...?

HorizonAP.com did the aerial video for it. Very impressive!

Sorry for the slight thread hijack Quinton...

Yes I did see it, great work. I know the pilot Jack from when I bought my first MR kit when he worked at Heliguy. Back to thread now! Anybody else have first hand knowledge about the Besteady One? Is there any aerial footage/examples using Besteady and MR online

Yes I've ordered one of these. They said they had allocated all the first batch themselves but to try their distributors and I got one from their French one. If they had mentioned that they would be selling direct to the uk from their site I would have waited. Fingers crossed that I get one in the next week when the first batch is released. It does look very good.

according to their website the BeSteady One basic is actualy 1650 grams! Where did you get 1040 from, I was looking at the product specs additional information. Also see all axis are 360 but no mention of slip rings so I'm guessing your HDMI/other video monitoring are going to be a limiting factor, also wonder how this might effect stability and ballance? All questions in my email that I never had answers for. Sorry if I seem sceptical.

Besteady Basic, te combo is for the handheld..http://www.besteady.pro/besteady/besteady-one/

Am wondering what they have come up with for the 360, I can see for handhld stuff that they are using wireless paralinx stuff, not sure how MR will manage it.
I know they are using a modified Alexmos board for the controls.
Hope they aren't expecting us to strap a ninja also onto the MR :) hope I haven't pulled the trigger too soon, their isnt a great deal of info out there!

Give them a ring, their contact number is on their web site.
And let them know you aren't happy about no email support.

  • I was looking at this page on their website:View attachment 14555 I'm sure you have made the right choice it's just that for me there are a number of manufacturers/distributors making all kinds of claims and when you dig deep and don't get too excited and carried away and examine the facts not all is what it seems and you end up investing lots of hard earned cash only to spend weeks (if not months) trying to get it to work as expected only to be disappointed.

I've been keeping a very close eye on these too and am very tempted. Similar experience to others though in that I have emailed several times but had no response which is a bit worrying when putting customer support into the equation. Spoke to a guy on the uk contact number a few weeks back and the conversation was similar to that describe by Quinton, especially when talking specifically about MR use.

Bit confused about the pricing on the UK site though; The price difference is more than the extras included in the combo, but I suspect they've not included the peli case in the list of what included in the combo kit.

@Quinton It going to be really interesting to hear your feedback. I bet the two weeks until you take delivery are going to seem like an eternity though!

Cbuk I totally agree with you, my first impression of any company/supplier is how they respond to enquiries or complaints and not receiving a response is a very poor start and it now looks like I'm not alone. Email is the prefered form of contact for most people these days, just think how much business you would secure if you didn't respond to your customers email enquiries for aerial work? When making a major purchase (for a new kitchen for example) the first thing I do is contact their customer service, firstly just to see if they have one, next to see how they respond and by posing as an existing customer with a complaint you can see what sort of service you might expect before making a purchase. In this case BeSteady are not now at the top of my list however I will reserve judgment for now pending Quintons feedback.

Remember that these guys only recently had a massively successful KickStarter - they got about 10 times more than they were asking for! So my guess is that right now they've suddenly found themselves holding a tiger by the tail! I think the product is probably very good (some excellent product design work in there), but now they need to generate a smoothly functioning company to match. Early adopters will just have to suffer their immature organization in order to enjoy the product ;)

Not at all, I have my Skyjib 6 maiden flight to worry about first :)

Just hope this lot have not bitten off more than they can chew, its not only Kickstarter they have to worry about, there seems to be a pretty long waiting list for their besteady 4 also from a group buy..
I love this comment from a user..."I am on the MoVI waiting list as well. I'm getting both. If I was only getting one, I would get the BeSteady because of the value."
Do these people have no budgets?

Its a good point but to many businesses like this are launching to quickly, if they have financial backing in the magnitude of ten fold the original startup costs then they should be holding off until all their departments and products are ready to meet customer needs and service. If they needed the finances then preorders are a good idea but not when they have 10x funding,

For everyones Information, Paypal is just off the phone to me to ask about the large transaction I made from Besteady.
What they said is they are not allowed to use Paypal for pre-orders, and that they are investigating the company.
They said there is no problem, but if I don't receive the product on the 14th then I should file a complaint with Paypal.
Don't think its a con or anything, just that they may be breaking some rules at the moment regarding accepting money through Paypal.

* update am just off the phone to Besteady, and all is OK, Hopefully they will visit this forum to explain to users why they havent replied to any emails.

It stands to reason that Paypal would not allow pre-orders - to cover themselves they would have to impose 100% retention of the monies received until goods are shipped - an impracticality on both sides. On my webstore they retain 10% of the transaction value for a rolling 30 days to cover refunds, disputes, etc.

Good to hear that BeSteady will join in here - I have a feeling they'll turn out to be good people. I don't envy them having to catch up with such a run-away order book.

Hey guys,

Apologies to anyone who has tried to contact us and had no response. We have been delighted but overwhelmed with the interest in our gimbal and a little unprepared for the amount of enquiries and questions we've been receiving (in excess of 1000 messages per week).

I've updated our contact details on the website to include my personal contact for any webshop enquiries. Hopefully I can clarify some of the questions you guys have about our device directly. I'm also always available by phone for more direct responses - +44 7925064220.

We're also taking on new staff to handle e-mails and customer service. Thanks for being patient while we find our feet :)

Hi Prokopi, well I have to say that you response (or the fact that you have responded) has somewhat given myself some confidence in your company. There are bigger players out there (at the moment) who will remain nameless as we all know who they are that are always posting the latest and greatest products but never respond to all the problems their customers post on this forum. I appreciate that dealers/manufacturers can't be expected to look through all the posts on all the forums but most businesses these days use social media to communicate. While you are on here one of the questions I had was: is there any footage taken with a BeSteady One from a multirotor? it goes without saying that most of us on here will be looking at your gimbal for multirotor use and it would be nice to see some raw footage. Just the rushes would do no fancy editing, does not need to be a fully polished corporate promo just an idea of what it can do. Many thanks, Andy

Thanks for understanding. We'll be doing our best to make sure we are more prompt with responses in the future. Almost all of our dealers specialise in multirotors (Kopterworx, Skydrone.fr and Liquid Sky cinema) so we expect to be seeing a lot of drone content from those guys. I have relayed to the team that there is clearly a need to shoot more aerial footage and I'll dig out any of our previous tests to offer some piece of mind for those of you waiting to see what it can do. I'll post a link here as soon as it's available.
