i wonder what they'd pay...not bragging but I have all of that stuff. been in the airlines too long, it would be hard to leave at this point for a start up gig somewhere.

[h=2]Job Description[/h]We’re working on the future. If you are seeking an iterative fast-paced environment where you can drive innovation, apply state-of-the-art technologies to solve extreme-scale real world challenges, and provide visible benefit to end-users, this is your opportunity.

Come work on the Amazon Prime Air Team!

Amazon Prime Air is looking for flight operations and certification personnel for flight testing our UAS technologies. You can expect to collaborate on test plans, plan the test evolution, and execute the flights while working closely with our flight engineering and flight test teams in Seattle. You will also be working closely with local certifying authorities to plan and execute the testing that works our way towards our full operational deployment. We're looking for aerospace, systems, or other engineers with extensive UAS flight experience, and preferably experience in working with authorities on UAS certification. Aviation safety experience is a definite plus, as is a current fixed-wing or rotorcraft pilot certificate. Success will require attention to detail, a safety-oriented attitude, flexibility, and creative problem solving to obtain the data we need as we iterate our vehicle and sensor technologies.

[h=2]Qualifications[/h]· 5+ (lead) 3+ (backup) years flight test experience
· Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering or related field required (will take other types of engineers if they have the flight test experience)
· Experience with flight test planning, coordination, and execution
· Excellent communications skills

[h=2]Preferred Qualifications[/h]· Experience in aircraft certification and working with regulatory agencies
· Demonstrated ability to brief upper management
· Aviation Safety experience as a Safety Officer, mishap investigator, etc.

- Current fixed-wing or rotorcraft pilot's certificate.

It would be nice to get away from the war fighting machines I work with now, I have all the quals and then some except an engineering degree, but to lateral and perhaps to move to Seattle does not create a lot of enthusiasm.

Ronan, I agree with you. I spend all my professional time correcting the mistakes made by engineers. Unless an engineer has "hand's on" experience the title leaves a lot to be desired. Far too many have been hired to perform tasks they are not the least bit knowledgeable of or qualified to execute. I'm sure that will irritate some with the title but too many years of correcting the mistakes and misunderstandings that have crashed a great many planes has generated a lot of doubt. There's some really good ones that know how to create and invent but far more that do little more than shop catalogs to see what might be modified to fit.

Necessity is the mother of invention. There's a big difference between inventing something rather than engineering something. Where have all of those engineers been over the past six years while all of us non-engineers where developing innovative Multirotors?

Wasn't enough money in it. Most engineers are not "risk takers" and so are content to maintain employment in more stable or secure working environments such as mega corporations. Rocking the boat with innovative design and creativity just isn't what they do.

That is an excellent question? I think they have been quietly working in the background where no one can see them and under tight management control of project work scope, budget and deadline as usual.

There has been some interest but some corporate giants did not see the profitability as high enough to make a change from the more common military platforms attractive. Only very recently have some started viewing our more traditional activities of cinematography, aerial mapping, and power company services as lucrative enough for their participation.
