Looks good Akermay,
Couple of things I'd like: wind speed in knots and being able to re-order the checks would be great. Oh and an incident log would be nice to have. Not that I ever have incidents!

Hi Pete,

Adding in an option for wind in knots shouldn't be an issue and an incident log is a great idea!

You can actually re-order the safety check lists by taping and holding a check and dragging. I need to make it clearer that its possible, I'll look at adding some sort of help/tips dialog boxes.

Oh yes so you can. Perfect.

Thank you to everyone who has offered such overwhelming support this week. We have a lot in store for Air Plan and these are some things we are going to be adding in the near future:

• Waypoints: Plot your flight positioning on the map.
• iCloud: Backup your important data.
• Photos: Take reference photos on location.
• Statistics: Review detailed stats based off your logs.
• Surveys: Create pre-deployment and on-site surveys.
• Colour Coding: Personalise and flag your logs making them easier to navigate.

Don't forget to tell your friends and colleagues!

i bought a copy to play with.... good stuff

an incident report would be killer. get a gps coord of the wreck, photos, make it easy to email it all to an insurance agency in a compatible format. pilot report, witness report

Hi,

I see that you are already planning to make some if the points i spotted, anyway here is the list I made in no particular order of importance

Check Lists
Small formatting issue where each word starts with a capital letter
Need to have a Fail check box and a comments section, If a flight check fails it should be recorded
Safety check should be recorded to prove that these were conducted
It should be possible to add a machine and crew to the flight checklist so it logs what it is being created against

Map
Currently this does not serve a function but I see that you already have a plan for this

Extras,
You could add a flight timer and alarm, used with notification incase the user is also using the iPad as a ground station etc
Pictures of equipment could replace the default images

Equipment
Could it be possible to set default equipment to save the amount of clicking and navigating around on the day
Total Hrs used in each of the equipment would be good.

I see good potential for this to become a great tool, if you need any help with the programming send me a PM

Keep up the good work

Andy

Kloner, Soler, thanks for the feedback. Everything you've mentioned is on the todo list.

As for maps, I need to make it clearer, but if you set the location on a flight log, it will display those flight locations on the map so you can see over time where you have flown. But as you say, I have plans to expand this, including way pointed flights.

Incident reports are also in the works!

I'm working hard on a bug fix update for Air Plan which I have high hopes will be available next week. It needs time to go through Apple approval process. Sorry to those affected!

should we expect problems with the new operating systems coming out? ie, should i make sure not to update if i'm actively using this daily to log my flights professionaly? till it's known to work or are these things backwards compatible?

Air Plan requires iOS 7.0 or later to run. Any version 7.x should work without issue. Apple has just announced iOS 8 available as beta. If you are using Air Plan professionally I don't recommend installing the beta, although you should only have access to this if you are a registered developer anyway.

If there are any little bugs, it is likely a fault with Air Plan and not iOS admittedly. There are currently no bugs that will compromise your data, so don't be concerned, please continue to use it as normal.

I'm working on iCloud backup as we speak, so should anything occur in any case, your data should be retrievable and restored form backup.

Would be nice if it would be possible to colour code the batteries, so you can see which ones are let's say 4s and which 6s.
Also would be nice if you could sort/ change the positions around, not only the order they where entered.

Another thing I noticed is when you use the checklist , the buttons ( tick, next, previous) are very dark and outside in the sun hard to see.
Don't make them grey on black, but white, yellow or red on the black background.

A lager fond would also help. Inside it's all no problem, but in the sun that would help.

Hi Holger,

Yep, iCloud support coming very soon, as fast as I can add it in!

Colour coding is planned too, logs and equipment (including batteries of course) as you mention. I'll add sorting function to equipment too.

As for the checklist, this is a very good point I hadn't thought of before. I've planned to include alternate colour themes as an option, so hopefully this will assist people. In the mean time though I'll take a good look at the former though and see how it can be improved.

Just submitted Air Plan v1.01 to the AppStore. Including lots of bug fixes, thanks to those who reported them back to us! With any luck Apple will approve it in good time. Time to get to work on all those new features though!

Also would be good to be able to tick the points in the checklist.
What I mean with that is that you might have headers like

Area safe?
In the comments you might add questions like

Free from obstructions?
Alternate landing spot identified?
Close area off and ensure members of the public can't walk in.
Any possible interference.?

Would be great to be able to tick the individual points off..

Potentially possible. I see where your coming from, the current method was made in an effort to allow any many operators as possible enter their checks. Your method makes a lot of sense, I'll have a think about how to implement it. If others said it would be useful too I'll bump it up the priority list, lots to work on!

I'm a full size student and am using apps to manage my flying including checklists and one app i use alot is foreflight and foreflight checklists..... if nothing else look at how they lay it out. I can make you a quick video to see how they check it off,,,, its super intutive comparably. they also offer managing/making checklist online so typing and keeping them synced amongst the group

Yours was easy to enter checklists, 20 or more items in pre flight

Thanks for the reference Kloner. It does look like a good approach, perhaps I have been trying to over simplify things. I'll do a second pass, try and make things a bit smarter.

Air Plan v1.01 is now ‘In-Review’ with Apple. We expect it to be available to download later today.
