I've got a gig coming up and wanted to share the airframe with you guys. This one just carries sensors so no need for camera mounts. It's alot more aero dynamic than anything i've built before in search of efficiency. the kit is a ritewing Zephyr z60 quadspar, then i also quad spar the wing to stifen them up,,,, helps keep that control surface attachment point from being "bindy" under stress and prevents alot of twist. This one also finaly got the motor mount up wedged into the quad sparring so the motor got all kinds of locked in at every axis. it is quided by ruby, powered by ritewing and video by lawmate/sc 2000. bls servos to ensure a long smooth life and long range rc control by immersion. this here is e field $$$$. West sytems leading edge and belly pan reinforced with riteweave. if you ever wanted a durable airframe of this sort, get the epp. it takes alot longer to build. like week instead of day and i build hard, but the durability and flight charecteristics are so epic it's worth it. it has a dampening affect instead of a stiff as a board affect. like a hard tail versus a soft tail bike.z60 is alot thinner airfoil than zII... 13% versus 8% thick so it's drag is alot lower than a z2 and it's lighter so it makes up for an even lower stall speed. this one drops around 24 mph, that punkie rig of mine is dropping in the high 20's, anything less wing loaded than that and it's beyond hand launchable

the inside vertical stab instead of on the wing tips. straighter smoother flight with a smaller imprint to travel with

I rigged this thing up with 4 bec's, 2 for flight, 2 for payloads. adjustable from 3 to 30 volts

plush 60 and a ritewing 800 kv motor for 6s

epoxy and riteweave then laminate over that

put ruby in a tray so can slide her out without making a mess of the wires around her. gonna attach that foam to a piece of wood that will be the battery tray side. it fits 10.6 amp hours of 6s, same packs we fly on our 800 hex

it all runs cooler than they do on my multi rotors... constant air blows across em, even in the heat of the heat like im in. the camera runs warmest but the video tx that gets 150 degree on my multi only runs 10 over ambient on this. I have had problems burrying esc's, they gotta have air over them for to work,,,,,this one sticks up 1/4", minimal but alot.....

Interesting.
If you run a heatsink with just the fins in the airflow (in line with airflow) would that work without adding too much weight?

the vtx heatsink is in the air, sits up just over flush to get a piece.... the cameras have a heat sink too but there buried in foam. the bec's have such a small draw they don't even get warm.sitting at an idle the rig draws .7 amps......

got the nod from Jim @ uThere for it's initial cautious test flight. Go baby go

maidened this thing yesterday and had some tuning to do. got too nose heavy, prop was too big and it was windy as heck so it wasn't much to write home about. going back out today to give it another go..... this poor little 2814 multi rotor motor got it's butt handed to it. the 12x6 prop on 6s had it warmer than usual. saw 60 amps on take off so that's 1500 watts.... think it's rated for 400 at the most. once airborne it cruises at 3-6 amps, 30-40 mph 150 amp..... dropped down to 11x5 for todays mission. it has to leave the ground strong or it's not enough prop, theres no time for droopy take offs. The shape of the rear end makes a totaly different sound than i'm used to. Reminds me of a street bike, like ninja style...... sounds sweet. Today i'll kick on the auto pilot and see where it's at..... got a set of waypoints loaded in case it feels right
