Newly revamped DJI - F550 with ipower 2814q-750kv motors, 10" Graupners props.

Newly built TBS Disco with ipower 2217q-880kv motors, 8" Graupners props.

Today I test flew both.
The F550 flew ok on 4S 5300 (Gens Aces ... wow its a heavy pack), but it flew more adjile on 3S.
The Disco flew ok on 3S (test pack was only 1750mah), but it flew better on 4S 5300, but those Gens Aces wont fit inside the frames.

I'm looking for the longest flight times. I know about the diminishing returns on power vs weight. I just dont know what the limits are.

I thought I read that for the TBS disco, I should keep the battery under 400g... but that limits the selections.
I'm thinking of 3S-4500- 5000mah for the F550
and 4S 4000mah for the TBS Disco.

I just havent pinpointed the weights and sizes.
Suggestions please.

880kv motors are going to want 9" to 10" props on 4s

the biggest pack i can fit in the disco is a sky lipo 4000 4s 40c...... it's a little tail heavy but loves going forward with it like that. atti works perfect....the turnigy 3300 30c 4s are the exact size recomended. I personaly don't notice much a difference but i think i can fly a rock by now so i might not notice some stuff that might happen if you hovered or flew slow flight

the 550 can go with whatever size you want. if your just hovering not too much weight the 4000 gens you got is fine, if you want some longevity, the 5300-6000 mah are a good place to start. I've got a 650 hex and it flies 4000-8000mah gens ace

the main goal with all this and dji controllers is to prop/power it so it hovers mid stick in manual mode

Thanks! I might put the 8" graupners on the f550 with a 4S 5300gens ace.

how they work just depends on the craft, how high elevation you are, how much weight it is....... you just gotta try it. Good way to check the manual part if not comftorable flying in that mode is get it up higher hovering, flip the manual mode switch on and off and note what it does. did it fall, did it rise, did it hover....... you turn off self leveling then flick it back on so it should stay resonably still.

I have the zippy compact 4s 4000mah 25c packs and they work great for my disco. I can get about 12-14 mins of flight time using the 9" graups and the same motors as yourself. Plus the zippy compacts are the lightest packs out there. Helps with endurance.
