[New product] RCbenchmark thrust stand, manufacturer's thread

@Av8Chuck Both tools are limited to 5kgf due to the load cell. We had to choose a thrust range, as a load cell with a higher rating will have a lower precision in the low range. I think 5kgf is a good balance between supporting larger motors and micro motors for most multirotor, but there is...

[New product] RCbenchmark thrust stand, manufacturer's thread

Sorry about that. Was it still useful for your tests? Is it because you did not see the specs on the website or on the datasheet, or because the thrust was higher than expected? Is there any way we could make the specs more clear? We also unlocked the thrust to 5kgf in the last update (load...

[New product] RCbenchmark thrust stand, manufacturer's thread

I posted here a few months ago about our tool professional motor test tool dynamometer and, at $495, it was a bit too expensive for most enthusiasts. Well, we worked on something simpler and here it is: we are now shipping the RCbenchmark Series 1520. It measures overall efficiency, current...

    Question about UAV configurations

If the smaller size of the coax allows you to install larger props, you might not notice the loss in performance from the coax, as larger props compensate.

    The hits just keep coming...

I think google map is a much easier way of getting an idea of what looks like a place... It sounds more like an idiot who wanted nice footage of an industrial area.

Recent UK Prosecution of Drone Pilot.

This is really unfortunate. If only there was a way the enthusiasts and the industry could self regulate. This idiot gives us all a bad name, and it makes it more likely that harsh regulations could be adopted.

[Tutorial] Motor and propeller efficiency testing with a dynamometer

I have been pretty busy working on a motor model last week. Here are some examples. The powers are in watts. The motor is an NTM 28-30 800KV. Also, here are the constants I obtained: KV: 800 (experimental) The most known motor constant. It came out to exactly 800 surprisingly. I tested a...

[Tutorial] Motor and propeller efficiency testing with a dynamometer

Sorry, I really though I was watching this thread... The max thrust is 3kGf. The max RPM is 200 000 rpm on 2 poles, 33 000 on 12 poles. The largest prop we tested is 16 in, but again, the limit is the thrust. PS: The max torque is 2Nm. We never reached that with props.

[Tutorial] Motor and propeller efficiency testing with a dynamometer

Prop efficiency will not be accurate for airplane propellers, as they are designed for an incoming airflow. If you need that information, it is possible to use reference tables, or wind tunnel tests (from which the reference tables were generated). For example, this paper has experimental and...

[Tutorial] Motor and propeller efficiency testing with a dynamometer

Hi, You are right, the propeller test is a static test, similar to hovering for a quad, unless you are using a wind tunnel. In practice though, prop data are usually well known in moving air for standard profile. The biggest unknown is often the motor. In that case, the propeller is only used...

[Tutorial] Motor and propeller efficiency testing with a dynamometer

Hi guys, I am a recent graduate of M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering from Ottawa, Canada. My colleague and I designed a dynamometer and motor tester specifically from UAVs and quad designers. We actually started this project after spending weeks to build our custom solution. "" For the release...

Hi! Flying enthousiate and flight time specialist.

Thank! I completely understand your point of view. We thought a lot about this, and we decided to start with a very high quality tool, with the features and precision required by researchers, businesses, and serious hobbyists. The software is constantly improving, and we want to make sure to get...

Hi! Flying enthousiate and flight time specialist.

Hi I'm Charles, from Ottawa, Canada. I started flying with helicopters (450 size), and went into acrobatic flying with mini-helicopters (mCPx bl). I then started multicopter flying. Heli was fun, but way too much time to repair. I also recently graduated from a M.Sc. Mech Eng, and I started a...
